Trying not to be too mean, but you are really pretty naive to think we're (that's with an apostrophe) "rightsized" when the revenue stream is drying up with no new potential blockbusters to take the place of lipitor among other LOE's. The fact that JK is lying to pump up the stock is pretty obvious sign that there's trouble ahead to say the least.

We all know that lay-offs are going to happen to homeoffice type people this quarter but not the sales force THIS SOON? So when you make statements like this please specify the "area" you are referring to.

When is Kindler going to lay himself off with the rest of the board of directors. Then they can give themselves a severance package and retirerment like McKinnel that is larger than their salary and go back to flipping hamburgers for McDonalds!
I knew they were up to something!

poster above is accurate.. more cuts to be announced. PC reps should all be ok.. PC DM's going to have big cuts.. Direct report goal is 15reps/DM.. currently many have only 8-12. Academic sales will be taking it very hard.. approx 50% cuts to that group across the board.. hold on folks.. this ride is not over yet..
good luck to all

These rumors are always the same. Dm's goign to be cut the most. At the end of the day when hasn't it been a random 30% cut across the board?

Hearing cuts as well, but across the board. Primary Care will be affected as well as other areas including institutional and academic areas. This is not going to stop for many years.
Good luck to all.

You are right on that count. This is the Pfizer death spiral. Just like the steel industry. Once the steel industry was one of the greatest industrys we had but it died because all the overseas stuff became cheaper. Same with the auto and aero industries. Just look at Bethlehem Steel and GM and Pan Am.
Pharma is suffering the same malaise as these great companies our Ma's and Pa's used to work in.
It will take a while but it is inevitable that PFE and pharma will end up just like the others.

Okay, douche bags. It's almost 5 EST and I've still got a job. This reminds me of Y2K . . . oh, wait! I mean 12/21/2010 . . . or whenever it is that the world will end.
What's your next "end of days" date? Next Friday? Go fuck yourself.

Academic sales? You meaning Institutional Sales? As a whole? Or academic institutional sales, specifically because of access issues?
Even with CUE, 15 reps per manager is HIGH. I mean, that's a lot of people.

cuts are coming...how original is that statement. what a surprise. this is like saying the sun is coming up tomorrow. it is inevitable and is going to happen-just a matter of when the cuts will actually start to happen again and which criteria they will use other than pulling a name out of a hat

Re: New Pfizer Layoffs to be announced Friday!
What difference could this possibly make?
With the $14 billion patent cliff on the horizon, if you aren't laid-off now , chances are you will be laid-off soon.
Sorry, but these are the facts.

Try if you're over 40, if there are even any of those people left at Pfirezer, even though that is illegal. They think they're above the law because Kindler canoodles with Obama. And in order for you to get your severance check, you HAVE to sign the agreement which states you won't hold Pfirezer accountable for age discrimination. What shit when it clearly is! Kindler has to go. Isn't he in that age range?

Anyone out there ever taken this agreement to a lawyer? I'd be curious if it would hold up in court.

Re: New Pfizer Layoffs to be announced Friday!
It will hold up in court. Additionally, Pfizer supplies a list to laid-off employees that identifies the job title and ages of both active employees and laid-off employees. There is an average age that Pfizer must meet in order to survive legal scrutiny. Believe me, Pfizer meets that age. Sign the agreement, get your large severance check and move on. However, IF you are within weeks of missing a milestone, talk with your manager and HR before signing.

First, you now have no job so you have no money to go to a lawyer. Second, Pfirezer makes sure you sign your agreement within a certain time period or you forgo your severance. It's essentially tying your arms behind your back philosophy. They like to control all the shots and your rights.
Good luck to everyone who gets laid off. I know we all worked our butts off to make Pfirezer great (years ago). But now Pfirezer's imploding and Pfirezer is solely responsible for what it's become - a major layoff company cliche - instead of the world's leading pharmaceutical company.

How would it hold up in court? So in order for Pfizer to meet their layoff quota, it sounds like even some poor slobs who were performing well were let go just because of their age quota - still illegal stuff here!

Look Kindler thinks if you program the 22 year old right out of college they can do the job. However, if they turn out to be ethical he finds them easier to replace.
