US Courts approve over time pay!!!!
In case you didnt read the latest Pharm rep mag, Novartis just lost an appeal that pharma reps should be paid overtime! Well in the states of NY and CA for now and predicts many if not all companys will follow suit!!! This could be could or bad news actually. If companies now must pay ot, many of us are making good money and if paid OT then were screwed cause the co will be forced to react!!! Since many large pharm co are going with contract sales, and not sure if contract sales is going to be forced to follow, well things will be interesting to say the least!!! Hope it works out for us all cause Im tired of working 10-12 hours (emails, ongoing training, reports etc) and not getting paid!!

Yeah, we discussed this here atr Cafe Pharma quite some time ago. Always glad to have newbies at the website.
On another note, if you're working 10-12 hours a day, you're doing something wrong.

Re: US Courts approve over time pay!!!!
Lemme tell you one thing and one thing only. I've been out of work for 18 months. If a company wants to pay me $60K to work 55 hrs/wk, I'll take it. I won't charge overtime. I will keep my big mouth shut. And I will like my job.

Re: US Courts approve over time pay!!!!
I know of no other profession where we are expected to put in so many "free" hours besides nonprofit or public health/fundraising work. It really is just a sign how big and corrupt these companies have become they think we should get all the paperwork, training, research, emails, and BS tests done on OUR OWN TIME. I would love to do it during the day. . . but I'm driving three to four hours every single day. My weeks are 60 hours to get it all done and I'm always behind. I feel too old for this anymore. I barely have a life outside of work and am nearly too tired to go back and retrain at my age.

i can totally relate...the words you wrote could have been mine...it is indeed a very very bad position to be in...Pharma is like black tar...it gets on you...no one will hire you, especially over 40 or so...I am going to sell my house and get a real estate license...the pharma life as i have known it for so long, is over...they are pushing me out....

Over time is approved. NOW, how do you suppose the companies are going to track your time on territory and at special events and studying, and doing necessary research, etc....
