What's happening in the Consumer segment of J&J? I heard there's been big cuts.

Not sure of the total number, but up to 200 in Skillman NJ were notified this week and last month. Many of the positions eliminated were global: marketing, R&D, Finanace, HR and Gossip Control; PR, Communications, Propaganda.

I'm aware of Pericles Stamatiades, Pat Mutchler, six or more VP's, whole buiness units, reassignments, demotions to Club 55, administrators, and marketing research.

The Weldon disinformation machine will, no doubt, continue apace until the Board of Directors are forced to remove him by an activist shareholder group, i.e., Fidelity, Vanguard. Until then, expect more of the same and less of the better.

It sounds like this is the way the public bottomline financials are maintained whilst the quality and substance of the business is eroded behind the scenes.

More than 200 in Skillman. Mostly those over 40. Age discrimination for sure.

If the numbers in this thread are true, its still not a WARN act event

NJ Warn Act Enhances Protections Provided Under Federal Law

On December 20, 2007, New Jersey enacted the Millville Dallas Airmotive Plant Job Loss Notification Act ("NJ Warn Act"), which supplements protections provided under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (the WARN Act). New Jersey now joins several other states that have adopted state laws modeled after the WARN Act.

The NJ Warn Act mirrors its federal counterpart in that it requires New Jersey employers with 100 or more employees to provide 60-day notice in the event of a mass layoff or a transfer or termination of operations. A "mass layoff" is defined as a reduction in force resulting in the termination of 500 or more full-time employees at a single site or 50 or more full-time employees representing at least 1/3 of the total full-time employees. A transfer or termination of operations means the discharge of 50 or more full-time employees wi

Lots of moves, very short term focused. Clearly many GOC leaders have opted to escape from the Jesse regime. It all started with annie lo, Steve Cunanan, now Pericles and Pat. Jesse is incompetent...a finance leader with no marketing skills now managing a Consumer Marketing Mega Company. Jesse Wu is another very bad Weldon move. Doubt he'll be able to last, the brands are all spiraling out of control. Crappy innovation, lots of high potentials leaving, competitors aggressively recruiting who ever they want from the J&J ranks. The good news is that if you worked in Asia under Jesse, you can now take on significant US based roles with no background or experience.
Bad time to be at J&J and it will get worse. Only a few good one's left in Skillman and even they are looking to leave. The bad ones are now hoping they'll be able to get promoted to GOC. the cycle of doom and gloom will continue.

Former J&J Presidents are now well positioned in all the big pharma consumer companies, consider Pfizer, Novartis, GSK, Merck. They're laughing all the way to the bank.

Why are there so many recent recalls? I thought this was all handled with the Tylenol recalls last year?

Unbelievable!!!! Start with Weldon and then move down the consumer ranks...Jesse is simply not working out...can't believe aveena baby is now impacted, a great brand now being mismanaged just like tylenol. GOC is awful...look at what they've left behind!!!
    Mass exodus...mass recalls....so sad...

    huge layoffs everywhere.
In Europe, French R&D site is being dismantled
In Europe, Central Franchise leaders being consolidated
In North America: Skin R&D being merged
In North America: Market Research consolidated with leadership dismantled
In North America: OTC marketing and sales contraction
In North America: Sanitary protection (PPC) being completely dismantled1111

Very bad time to be at J&J. Good leaders jumped ship last year, now the weaker players are being displaced and looking for new opportunities.

Huge change is needed or you can bank on continued decline and the "milking" of the consumer division. It's a great company, hopefully they find their way soon.

Above is spot on. Sanitary Protection is DOA. Oral Care same except for Listerine. Skin care consolidating. R&D in disarray. Most of year will be lost trying to refocus. Businesses being sold off to fund current profit commitments. Bad, bad situation.

What about Canada Consumer? Have you heard of any more layoffs? We just had some last December; hard to believe we will have to go through it again!
