Hauser knows the externalized conductors are just the final sign of the lead breaking down, the real issue is the weak internal insulation keeping the cables apart. optim may just slow down the externalization. Look for him to go deeper on the failure mechanism while st junk waves their hands and pays chuck love to tell everyone how good Durata is and why there is no cause for alarm. At least the discovery work in those bottom feeder shareholder suits will force disclosure of who knew what and when.

Hauser= Ralph Nader. He may have been relevant at one point in time, not now.

All of this focus on "externalization" misses the point that the real problem is when the wires short together, you can't test it and then you fail to deliver shock therapy.

Hauser: "Conclusions Riata ST Optim™ and Durata ICD leads have failed due to insulation abrasions. Optim™ did not prevent these abrasions, which developed ≤4 years after implant. "
