I have 3i Implants failing left and right for no good reason and the Company has no explanation for this. Anyone else in this boat?

    "Anyone else in this boat?"

Titanic. WOW, that water is cold.

Don't worry, you'll be dead in a few minutes.

Just extract the fixture and place another one. Charge the patient 100% and rest easy at night.

    Call it a 'Practice Builder"...

I don't work for 3i, but this type of fake, desperate troll is what the clone implant reps resort to. Beat it-you aren't fooling anyone. This feeble attempt is the level of talent you have and why no one will hire you.

Sorry but 3i Customers have been quietly removing them from their offices for years. Most recently in a more rapid manner as 3i is having "unexplainable" failures with their Implants. I don't work for a clone Implant company so your bullshit comment is ridiculous.

Your half-ass attempt to post as a dentist to open up a discussion is more ridiculous than anything I said. That was my only point.

So tell me, how does it feel to be a moron working for a Company that is in the toilet?

Ok, let's face it, this IS a desparate attempt by someone in their respective territory going through issues with obvious effects by the 3i representation. 3i has so much going for it that reps do feel threatened. Let's start:

    1) Digital Dentistry leader: We can scan encodes and design cad-cam abutments, including ZR. So if the surgeon in post op scans for the GP, then the case is there for the patient first visit with that GP. That in itself is making the industry nervous. Also, the lab solutions are there, especially our 3-shape capabilities.

    2) Conventional Encode Impressions: Based on a single encode impression, Gp's can not only opt for cad-cam, including ZR, they can take the encode impression and get back a stock abutment, UCLA, whatever they want other than bars (coming soon).

    3) Tapered implant that works (finally): Best primary stability in the market (sorry straumman rep, hate to burst your bubble). High primary stability will allow for more stage one and non-occlusal loading cases. With the rate of success in the 97-98 range, coupled by Encode, it becomes a solution with clinical evidence, no knock-off gamble.

    4) While I'm there, I'm selling my bone line. It may not be the most sophisticated line out there, but it does the job very well. Miami bone bank is better than the other options. I become a one-stop shop for the specialist community.

    5) We don't go after GP's to place. Sorry Nobel and now Straumman, but you guys bit the hand that fed ya.

    6) Sure Nobel beat us to market with the All-on-Four solution, but the restoration side of that concept is a total nightmare on the different parts you need to store for specific implants that must be used in these scenarios. As for us, DIEM 2, get to know it. Also, back to the hand that fed ya, Nobel "alliance" with Clear Choice does not help matters. Ask the Nobel rep from Virginia who was fired for having the best interest of his local Specialist in mind. Research Cafepharma links for more details.

So what will one, desparate rep do to come up with a smoke screen? Post a blog on this site defaming 3i and feeding off the hysteria that went on 6-8 years ago!

    6-8 years ago:

    1) Bush was President, twice!
    2) We were on I-phone 2, and the I-pad was yet to be introduced.
    3) Britney Spears was the most popular artist at the time.
    4) Then she went bald
    5) Osama was alive
    6) Hussein was hung
    7) My house was worth double for what I sold it for.
    8) My territory is worth more now than when I started, 3x fold. And I still make plan! Thanks to "these failures" I was able to accomplish plan (sarcasm, in case you didn't sniff that).
    8) I use to be able to hit the bars/clubs all night, get smashed, wake up, and do it again the next day.

I can go on and on. Point is, it's the past, the company has moved forward with products 10x better than before. No one would ever envision Encode and Oral scanners mating together as a popular solution.

So, continue bashing. Because, when I come across it, here are the questions I ask:

Does the competing rep offer something with scientific merit as an alternative? If so, is it a double-blind study from a reputable institution ( ahem, used to be NYU).

Does there company offer a solution that cuts chairtime, and allows for more aggresive therapy procedures to meet the demand of TODAY's patient?

Do they pro-actively seek to grow business via the Specialist, or by going after the Specialist list of GP's?

Has the rep been around long enough to understand the local landscape of the Specialist and referring market? Or, are they new and frustrated that they are not growing like the Head-hunter promised they would. So do they come in and bash right away or are they legit and trying to learn the business?

Again, on and on. But the end result is failurs happens to All of us! It's how we move forward, that's what matters!

Wow, how does that KoolAid taste? I personally know very reputable Medical Recruiters who "will not" work with 3i anymore because they promise the world (ie see comment above) then screw their Reps. You are the jedi-master of horse shit! Congratulations there.

Very nice post, and almost completely accurate. I'd rather debate with this individual than the host of low talent knockoff/ripoff/short-timers that falsly post as clinicians to desperately cast stones without anything to back it up.

Before going down the road of "who's winning, who's going to win, who's got the best clinical proof, solutions, plan for the future" stuff, let's start with some facts:

In the last five years (because I know the 3i folks don't want you to look back further than that--I get it--it is painful), The market has shifted considerably in the U.S. and worldwide.
Nobel was the #1 company with a sizeable lead, almost double that of the #2 (Straumann) at the time. 3i, Zimmer and Astra rounded out the top 5 in that order. Straumann and 3i were neck and neck for 2-3 in the U.S.

Fast-forward to present day--Nobel has fallen in historical proportions, losing 10% of the world market they've had. Who has snapped up most of it and how? Straumann and Astra,
    not 3i.

The recent Dentsply acqusition notwithstanding, how did those 2 companies (out of the top 5--we all know the dozens of other no-name brands have had an effect as well, led by Implant Direct) accomplished this, while 3i and Zimmer were flat?

Straumann has taken over the world's #1 position by gaining 5% of the world market in that time. In the U.S, they will be #1 next year. The reason is clear: They have no jaded or spotty clinical past, or present, like 3i has. They are a very well run business that has always had the most R & D spend out of their profit margin vs. any of the other implant companies. This has paid enormous dividends in consistent quality. If you asked Astra who they most likely have tried to model themselves after in the past 25 years (Straumann has been around for more than 50), in a heartbeat they would say Straumann. The trust in both these companies offerings combined with the word on the streets amongst specialists is hard to steal from if you're 3i. Clinicians have memories like elephants--they do not forget or forgive the times they've had major issues with product, like the've had with 3i.

So, has 3i made an upward blip for the last year with Encode? Absolutely. Only, in that time, Straumann and Astra have still outpaced the market as they have been, buoyed by their long-term plans, complete portfolios, and market reputation. Be smart where you try to cast the net out there. Prior to that 3i had declined for about 2 years, so overall they've been flat during the last five. We'll see what the next few years bring with you guys.

Truly scary how that 3i rep has been completely brainwashed. Finally figured out the perfect tapered implant???? WTF??? 3i's isn't any better than any other tapered implant.

And Miami Bone is absolutely nothing special. It offers no benefit over any other bone bank bone and certainly doesn't have the research or overall usage that Puros does when it comes to human bone.

You seriously need to open your eyes because you actually said those things to surgeons they would laugh you out of the office. Believing in your products is one thing, using some reality when speaking to customers is much different.

I am so sick and tired of everyone using the reference "drinking the Kool Aid" as a negative connotation. I happen to love Kool Aid, and if I were to offer you a nice tall glass of Kool Aid, don't act like you would turn it down. Who is better? 3i? Straumann? Nobel? Astra? Who cares? They are all titans of the Dental Industry. All have the latest innovations and technologies. All global leaders. They all integrate. They also all fail on occasion. It comes down to which company's reps are more trusted, well-liked, and supportive. The real issue here is the stereotype on Kool Aid. Just because a few radicals utilized Kool Aid in a way that goes against the social fabric, does that mean we should all categorize Kool Aid as a "drink of lunatics"? Absolutely not. And NO dental implant company has or will ever have a more recognizable brand than The Kool Aid Man. So fully seat THAT in to your maxilla and chew on it. OOOOHHH YYYEEEAAAHHH.

The "maxilla" is the upper jaw bone. I think that as a rep you should know the oral anatomy.

No, I am not the pp, I am just a dentist who is a stickler for reps knowing dental anatomy.. it was not meant as an insult. Please, if you are going to walk into any dental office, surgical or restorative, please know what you are talking about, otherwise you are wasting your time and ours. Some suggestions: please learn basic dental anatomy, tooth numbers and dental materials. We dentists have had many good laughs over reps that know don'tknow their products and reps that come into our offices and bad mouth their competition ( bad idea). The truth is we really don't need you interrupting our schedules and just walking in past the front desk. When you do this it tends to disrupt our day. Please call first or wait patiently in the waiting room until you can be seen. The patient, not the rep, is our priority. Most of you have become very annoying and arrogant and we do not appreciate it. Thank you for reading my post.

Wow. I was talking about Kool Aid, and get crucified on my "lack of knowledge" regarding the anatomy and badmouthing competition. My post was not to be taken seriously, as I thought it was painfully obvious. I was just tired of reading the same old crap vomited out on cp, and wanted to throw my worthless two cents in. I know the anatomy, and I know my product line. And I didn't badmouth anybody, in fact I stated they were all great companies. Hell, I dont work for any of them, my company does not even have a board on here. I have had to troll around on all the other ones. I know the reps for these companies in my area, and they are good, nice reps. Well, except for the Nobel guy. He's a dick. So much for me just trying to lighten up a topic that will be a never ending, vicious cycle. See you tomorrow Doc. I'll just park in the staff parking lot and stroll through the back door, as usual.

You must be new 3i guy! You dont have the best primary stability in the market and niether does Straumann. Oh - everyone claims to have 97 - 98% SR, didnt you know that? Encode?? Whatever dude. You have tons of clinical evidence thats for sure. Although I found your post entertaining, you should really get your facts straight.

Good to see Straumann on the site. We ran you boys out of our market! Good luck with your yesterday's implant and the - LOL - bone level. Sorry I couldnt help but laugh. You quote what Astra would say?? Really think we give a shit what Astra would say?? What a clown - Oh, thanks for the market report.

Keep laughing-it's accurate. If you ran Straumann out of your market, (I doubt it, but I can't disprove it) good for you personally. It just isn't a reflection of the overall business. Straumann technology vs. 3i technology? You can't be serious. Head to head in their history, you lose by a mile. You started as a copycat company and have a lot of skeletons in the closet.

Hey man check your history book. Straumann is a copy cat company too. Everyone copied Branemark external hex to get started. Then all of you lined up to license "internal connections" from your boy Jerry Niznick who quickly took over the #1 Market share position while making money off of Branemark, Straumann and 3i. Had it not been for those license agreements, all of you would have gone out of business. Reality check dumbass.
