Dropping to 6th is news to me. I have a feeling you're pulling numbers. Please disclose where your info is coming from.

IMO, ranking is... straumman, Nobel, astra due to merger and their beefed up sales numbers due to Atlantis, followed by biomet and zimmer.

With the financial struggles of Nobel and straumman, it would not surprise me that a takeover is in the works. Now, picture yourself working for biometric if we were to buy you? Money is still cheap and the dollar is growing stronger. Becareful, you may become my gofer

Biomet kicked you guys to the curb because your numbers sucked so bad and had to be included in theirs. 3i has lost a ton of market share, a ton. Ever wonder why nobody clones your implants?????? Why would anyone clone a turd????

If you have not watched the news other than fox, then you are the moron.

    Economics 101, here we go:

As interest rates rise, our dollar value rises against basket currencies, including the euro and the yen.

Then, imports such as oil, energy, anything thats an export, become cheaper. American based companies purchasing power becomes stronger. Such companies who's balance sheets are ripped with cash and can't put it anywhere will begin to look into investment options, especially when economies of scale can be leveraged.

With that said, other than Zimmer, 3i and ID, (and I might be missing others) but Nobel and Straumman are euro based.

And although what I'm about to say contradicts what I wrote above, rates although rising are historycally low. This is when the M&a engine begins to rev up.

Now, pick up a financial journal and learn something other than how to beat angry birds, or your own shaft.

    Mr Economist,

How does QE play into your formula for the "stronger" US dollar? It worked well for Japan.

No one wants to buy a dental implant company right now unless it 10 cents to the dollar. 3I, Zimmer and many others cannot find a buyer to save their lives. BioHorizons has failed at 3 different IPO attempts.

Im a new OS to Biomet 3i. I recently purchased the system and out of 10 patients 7 out of them had failures. I also use Nobel, MIS, and Biohorizons and have never had these issues with them. Is this typical of Biomet 3i??

If you really are a doctor and you're coming to this website for clinical feedback, I feel sorry for the patients and referrals who were tricked into thinking you're not a complete fool.

I'm a perio and had the same issue. 7 out of 10. What gives?

Sounds like to me either some disgruntled former employee trying to be a troll or a competitive rep got bit by a 3i rep.

Speaking of which, why are more Straumann users coming back to 3i? I got one guy pissed that a Straumman rep duped him to buy a high volume implant purchase and get an iTero. Then the specialist comes to find out after the fact that the rep knew that it was a relationship that was about to end. Needless to say, specialist was pissed. And to boot, the new itero version of the unit came not to long after, rendering the new 'old' unit obsolete. This, I come to find out, happen to quite a few people throughout the country.

Also, a doctor solicited me to meet him and go over the seal studies.

"so, a doctor solicited me to meet him and go over the seal studies."

If you knew how to sell based on science and using literature that is non-bias, then you would know that seal integrity is very important when it comes to aesthetics, especially in the anterior. Consider a person with moderate to thin biotype tissue.

Also, it's important next to the sinus especially if there was an osteotome lift where every millimeter of bone is vital. If the system has a poor seal, then as a GP, you may encounter issues.

    IT's Science, Can't argue it!

So, for those of you that push the conical connection systems (straumann and Astra's of the world), you can't tout that those connections are superior anymore. The days of duping the implant world by stating that the connical is stronger or better are over.

So go ahead and use terms (to those that use 3i or are considering 3i) such as "they suck" or "you can't trust them" or 'they fail," or "they are a marketing machine." It just shows that you can't rebutt in an intelligent manner and truly exposes your selling skills.

I love how you are hanging on to one study for this. Try this one out next time. Take a big whiff of the patients mouth after you take a healing abutment off a 3i implant and then tell me how quickly you hurl.

Next take a whiff of an Asta or Straumann after you take healing cap off and tell me that these don't "Seal" better than 3i. You guys are morons over there.

Burying your head in the sand is truly the 3i way. They tried it once (and failed) with the surfacing failures a few weeks ago, and now they're doing the same shit with connections. Amazing. What do the 3 "i's" stand for, anyway? Incompetence? Ignorance? Integration (or lack thereof)?

First, try reading the MULTIPLE studies pertaining to the seal test. Then, if you are smart, you can answer the question yourself as to why there's a stench when it comes to healing abutments vs the actual final abutment.

Then, ask yourself who really is the moron here for opening their mouths on a subject they obviously have no clue on....Moron

Is that how you sell your implants, asking doctors if it passes the stench test? That's classic!

HERE'S a clue... Assume this was brought upon biomet, at the end of the day, other's followed suit to see if the theory holds water. Guess what, not only does it hold water, it was also presented at the AO, Quintessence, and a topic of studies by Universities as well as published by peer review journals.

Regardless as how good a surface might be, at the end of the day, does it help mitigate peri-implantitis. Think about it, if the connection seal sucks, then bone loss in time becomes the result, then the surface is exposed. Once that happens, take out the handy Peri-implantitis brush that Straumann sells. Funny, why would they offer that?

    Now sniff that!

I will be attending a aesthetic meeting shortly and have a chance to discuss this at further length with my piers that are not local. I have spoken with the Area director and we are working out a refund. I suggest you do the same and rid yourself of this system. Apparently from what Im learning you could throw a dart and hit any better implant company than this one.. Im going to stick with the MIS and Nobel although the Bio horizons I have been having wonderful progress with on aesthetic cases. Good luck

Bro, this is so bogus. Ask ANY Astra docs about bone maintenance and soft tissue response short and long term with that system and you won't find a single complaint. You are waging a war that is not necessary. I have not heard a single surgeon say they had any complications with system or any failures. Now ask 3i guys and pour yourself a cup of coffee because they are gonna go off about all of their issues. Here's some more food for thought, take a look at Zipperich studies, he's got another one about to be published and um results are gonna be bit different from these.
