Then man up, get together a class action suit. You and my brothers have been bitching on here about this for a long time. I for one think that you're full of it, and won't do a damned thing.

And if you DO, Ive also been here long enough to know that we've got some dirty secrets on how we long discriminated against minorities and gays. How do you think that our initiative came into being in the first place?

Call it PC, call it white guilt, call it whatever you want. Either take on the giant, or stay on the porch with the poodles.

White guilt, my ass. Where did this crap come from? Psycho babble at its worst. Political BS to get the black vote. The black way to get the reparations they believe they are owed.
If you are truly qualified and the better candidate, you should be given the job. If not, shut up and stop crying racism. Become better than the next guy or learn to kiss ass better. That's how most get ahead, anyway. Entitlements based on race are downright wrong!

Since the diversity initiative started at J&J, it has created an atmosphere of entitlement for diverse candidates and internal diverse employees. Not unlike racial quotas for admissions at Universities, J&J has made a very conscious decision to increase diversity representation within its workforce, even if it requires hiring or promoting those who are less qualified or lower performing than their non diverse peers. If you are not a diverse employee and choose to stay at J&J, you need to accept this as fact and current practice which is unlikely to change. Or, make the choice to leave and join an organization that values qualifications and performance over meeting minority quotas. The choice is yours.

You will see this practice in action as they execute the RIF of over 3000 employees within MD&D. Less qualified diversity employees will be retained while the more qualified non-diverse employee is laid off.
During an RIF exercise, an adverse impact analysis will be conducted by HR and legal and if planned reductions for a particular function, department, or organization show and "adverse impact" on women or minorities who have protection under Title IV of the Civil Rights Act, changes will be made in the selection criteria OR the evaluation of the skills & competencies of non-diverse employees will be altered so the data supports their position being eliminated rather than the diverse employee's position being eliminated. I've been through 5 RIF's in my career at J&J and can attest to this process. If you question this practice, ask those in HR who lead the RIF process to explain adverse impact to you and ask them the question "What happens if the RIF results in adverse impact on a protected group, under Title IV?" If they are truthful, they will be transparent about the process.
What is most concerning is that although Title VI protects anyone over 40 years of age, J&J is less concerned about this issue when results show an adverse impact on this protected group.

Uhhmmmm…how long have you worked here? We've always had entitlements for race. I can't think of a time when "the most qualified got the job" here. Are you freakin' kidding me?? As someone that started here in the glory days of the late 80s, I can think of reams of hook ups, cronies, sycophants, and good-old-boys that were in mid and upper level management in sales and in marketing. If you were here then, so can you! None of them were anything but straight (I think) white men.

Maybe a lot of gays and minorities didn't apply for these slots (we had very few at lower levels back then), but I can understand how we led the industry in discrimination lawsuits. We were so over the top in excluding others that we repeatedly paid out multiple millions in fines and settlements. That doesn't happen by accident, kiddies.

Bitch and moan all you want that you and I are no longer guaranteed to have a leg up on a minority or gay when we compete against them. Point the finger at Dubya Bush, Obumma, SCOTUS…whoever you want.

If you think that you're so much better than that colored girl or the gay guy, then sue. Stop wailing like a little bitch and sue us.

WTF? Did you read my post? I think you're missing my points.
At this point, who cares? It's over for anyone who is willing to get themselves educated, willing to work, and contribute to their companies and society.
It's now GIVE me this, give me that; everyone is entitled to an education, a job that pays six figures, etc etc. the me generation. It's even worse with the minorities, be it race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, albinos, redheads, you name it.

Why do low level employees fight and hurt and hate each other so much? So what if the white woman, gay guy, fat lady, black guy, etc isn't the most qualified person.

The reality is that when shit hits the fan, the hardest workers that are not at the top of the pyramid will be fired along with the slackers at the bottom. So just worry about yourself and stop giving other people a hard time for trying to get a job. There are people out here who will kill you for a dollar. The minorities trying to get a job are not the real threat.

These companies will use and abuse anyone. So just learn how to work together and get all you can out of these jerks. The $100,000 a year you get is nothing to them. They get twice as much for a bonus.

ah…so when minorities, gays, and women were discriminated against here (and we paid millions in lawsuits), all was ok. And now that the older white guys that benefitted from this discrimination are being "discriminated against" and escorted out, you pull out the "two wrongs don't make a right" card, and scream reverse-racism all over this board?

With that solid argument, I wonder why you didn't go into law as a profession, instead of detailing drugs.
