What area are you IV'ing for. That will make a big difference in my answer.

VA/WV Restructured territory. I was told that it does about 500,000 a year right now. What is this company like to work for? Benefits, reaching goals, management etc. Thanks any info will be appreciated.

I'm in Dental, in pharmaceuticals. But Brasseler has a great reputation, dentists love their products. It's a direct sale, so it can be stressful (monthly quotas), but dentists are actually pretty cool to see. They actually enjoy seeing reps so it's not hard to get their attention.

    Good luck!

I have worked for several dental companies all of which I loved except Brasseler. They are the most backwards, screwed up dinosaur of a company. They have good products, but no idea how to run a business, be organized and definitely no idea how to treat their employees. The management is from hell. They don't care about their employees at all and will screw you. Run!!!!

Know this is an old thread, but I'm new to the boards and lest anyone considering employment with this outfit be confused.......they are heartless, gutless folks with no compassion, sense of fair play, or even understanding of what's valuable in their organization. If you're considering it, move on. The idea that they "sell direct" is messed up too. They are like Discus, a marketing/sales organization. The items they manufacturer wouldn't take up more than a few pages in their massive catalog. As the previous poster so succinctly said.....Run!!!!!

such bullshit. i work at brasseler. have for only a year and a half, and yeah, they're not perfect, but they certainly don't treat their people poorly. the products are great, we do sell direct, and of all the companies i have worked for in the last fifteen years this is a place i think i can hang my hat.

every company has their downside. with this company, it's if you can't sell you get fucked. guess what people, these boards are for sales people. i was in pharma for eight years, and pharma reps by and large can't sell their way out of a wet paper bag. so yeah, brasseler's management may be tough, but it's because you have to sell everyday, every month, every year.

what's hard to understand about that? if you want to make six figures, brasseler is a place you can do it. in 2007 i will probably end up at about 104K, and i'll take it.

if you don't want to work hard to make decent money, stay in pharma.

So your understanding after a year and a half is that only poor performers "get fucked" as you so succinctly put it? That level of understanding would nearly disqualify you from commenting in my view. Glad you're doing well (truly....no ill will toward anyone working hard, making a good buck and happy) and hope it continues for you, but this company has a long history of doing the wrong thing by their people. I can only hope for you that they have turned a corner. Good luck.

You sell direct? What does your company make? Very little...........

I want info re: Brasseler IV process w/ RM and NSM. Any specific preparations /questions? Background check? Who is the NSM? How long is the training and home study? Any areas or regions stronger to go into. Are they losing marketshare to Komet or Axis, or are they the best and Drs. know this.

Brasseler usa makes very little of their own product. They used to part of a larger company from germany. That company no longer distributes or makes product to them. They are currently losing a large amount of market share to komet (I would research them to understand more of the story) and have lost market share to axis. They have in the past not been loyal to many of their employees or former employees. They are like other dental companies they buy product and sell it to others after their markup. The money might look good but, for how long. They say that they sell direct, but, how can they when they make very little product. the dental industry is a great industry to be in! but, pharma might be the place to stay. Do some re-search and decide for yourself!!

Pharma shmarma. Pharma is for people who can't sell and like to walk around Target and Best Buy and think of new and creative ways to fake call notes or destroy samples they SAY they are distributing (meanwhile the doctor signs for 18 boxes and the rep leaves just one...just remember to burn those extra samples that are in your garage and don't just throw them out--someone's always looking for shit at the dump, and J&J WILL get a call).

Brasseler is like any other company trying to make money, nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes they downsize and good people get cut out. Most times they fire people who get up at nine and leave the field at two. Wow, what assholes to fire people like that! But at least at the end of the day the vast majority of their employees have put in an honest days' work and can calculate EXACTLY how much money they made by what they sold that day. It sure as shit beats waiting to get fucked by zip code data you have completely no control over. "94% to plan, you almost made it, Melody! Nice job, sorry about the bonus!" Ever hear that one? There is no perfect job, but do yourself a favor: grow some nuts, try, just try, to feel good about your daily activity for once, get out of the mall or Panera, and get the hell out of pharma. What a joke of a "job" (well it's a job if you consider yourself a used car salesman with a part time catering job).

The note about maybe staying in pharma was an aside for the respondent and you choose to focus on it. The larger message seemed to be about the serious issues w/ Brasseler per their "direct selling" and long history of messing w/ good reps. Very often strong performers have been corn-holed by these guys (if it soothes you to think these were 9-2 guys/gals hang on to that), and others still there walk on eggshells and collect a decent check. No thanks, and good luck with the private equity buyout, those generally turn out to be very positive transactions for employees. Mgmt helps prepare for resale by taking an Exacto knife to the expense sheet (witness grossly reduced journal ads in the last couple of months...by one estimate down from typical 40K/month to nearly 10K virtually overnight in DPR) so that they can particpate in the windfall 18-24 months later and absolutely no one looks out for or gives two shits about the reps bringing in the monthly nut. Surely they've given wonderfully re-assuring presentations to you all as they are wont to do......and that's good enough for you????? Keep your resume shined up and be careful to not overly defend the in-defensible....

Everything still great @ Brasseler? Not to make fun, because perhaps you have a manager that actually does their job and filters some of the shit from above (and you therefore get to remain clueless and happy as we should all be so lucky to be) but riddle me this: if all is well in your world why would a top five market that had as many as seven reps in it (counting specialists) over the years now be down to two (one of whom lives 40 miles from anywhere)?

It's been nearly 20 years since this was the case and even then it should have had more except a once-great rep (now hanger-on mgmt type) had an ego so big he ate his young when reps were added. Ads have been in place for this market for 6+ months and then there were at least 4 reps.....now 2?

Still thinking this is someplace you can hang your hat? Good luck.....and just wait until a customer desperately needs the same version of a -------- they've always ordered and........????

Brasseler still is regarded as an industry leader in burs. Not a bad gig to get your foot in the door.

And you would be hopelessly out of touch. Endo? Yeah....Burs? market share shrinking faster than Roger Clemens' credibility. Distributor reps smell blood in the water and are converting users daily. Why you ask? Simply read this short thread (answers in abundance).

Total medical rep bullshit!!! Fully half of my old district alone in pharma (including myself) has made the switch to device, dental, software, etc and all have been very successful. Companys include Boston Scientific, Zimmer, Guidant, Medtronic, BrainLab, and a few others I can't quite remember. Everyone of them (including myself) experienced this same crap. All of us were slightly intimidated somewhat and wondered if it had some basis in truth. It doesn't. It's simply a case of a self-inflation of an empty suit...nothing more. If you consistently rose to the top in pharma you very likely have all the skill to do the same in almost any industry. There are good and bad reps everywhere...and from my experience making the switch from pharma to device this type of attitude is extremely typical of bad reps who feel the need to pump themselves up.

Curious minds want to know where the Brasseler supporters are now? Anyone not looking to jump that sinking ship? Market is changing faster now and will only accelerate as you see the pure crap your mgmt has decided your customers will accept as unchanged from the products they have come to rely on in their practice, nevermind the "discontinued" items.

Come on, tell anyone who will listen that the only reason they could be slagging these a-holes is that they either didn't get up in the morning or couldn't sell their way out of a wet paper bag.

And tell yourself that everything will be great now that the private equity group bought in and Peter's family is finally out.

You couldn't be more clueless......and talk about adding credibility to a competitor......is it possible that you will now be walking around with a quarterly promo sheet called a "Dis-connect"? If true, any hint of respect we may have had for the brains of that operation (and despite our dislike of them, that is one area many begrudgingly gave respect) is gone. Petty minds and decisions that will only speed your demise................

Understand that 6 months in with new owners a new pay structure has been introduced for the field. AND that it was made retro-active.....AND that how it would affect your income was less than clear and will only be known when the paychecks arrive tomorrow. Still defending the heartless fools running your company? Just wondering......
