25K bonus? Companies still offer that low of a bonus these days in specialty? Good lord!

Average, well I was trying to be nice. I hope who ever is responding to this thread is not representative of the average ZS rep.

This is CP. This does not represent the average of anything in pharma. Are you new to this site or industry? Geez.

Yes! This happens. The reps in the Epilepsy Division of Eisai averaged only around $10K for the year last year. Many of them are old-timers who have been with the company for years. They have decent base salaries, but IC sucks. They stick around because they don't want to make a change and are willing to tolerate a shitty IC plan. You will find this scenario in other companies, as well.

Hope you all are planning on finding another job versus waiting for ZS-9 to hit the market! Your drug was pretty much made in a plant a few standards higher than a meth lab!

They will give you a big jar of Kool Aid. Don't drink it. If I were in your shoes I would have my resume ready to go. Working for Astra Sucks

This is what happens when you hire at risk and prior to a PDUFA date or an approval.
Some people think they know everything- some of the dumb asses who made this decision
do not know history- what was the rush??

Now everything is at risk for everyone.

Lol.......well let's see.......how many of you would've left your previous company if you knew you'd be selling Crestor??

Welcome back to big Pharma and primary care sales for AZ everyone!

And that's if we're lucky......Yep....and I wouldn't be surprised if AZ decides to eliminate our sales force......why would they keeping bankrolling a bunch of overpaid sales reps when they're already are losing money on the $2.7 billion deal at this point, plus the product won't be out for at least a year if ever.

So in summary, best case scenario, welcome back to big Pharma and enjoy selling Crestor. Likely case scenario is that we're goners!

Obviously you don't work at AZ or ZS, because it's already been announced what product we are going to sell.
But you are correct - welcome to AZ and big Pharma. And if any of us did know this, we wouldn't have come.
For the time being, we will be the most overpaid primary care sales force in the industry, spinning our wheels and wondering wtf happened.
That said, ZS-9 will probably launch q1/q2 next year - the challenge for ZS management will be keeping the high performers engaged and ready to launch. Too much primary care bs, insufficient bonuses, lame pod meetings, and people are going to walk. And backfilling in this situation will be difficult at best (they also don't have the equity incentive to dangle anymore).
So in summation - this sucks. We have to sit tight, do this job that we don't want for 8 months, and hope the drug we came here for launches and we make $$.
There are worse places to be in this world. Good luck all.

Well said, and very accurate. This will suck and things may not be the way we planned them.
We may all be looking for our next biotech gig, problem being that if they are out there, they will
replicate what has happened here, they get bought.
That is the point of this start ups- they intend to get bought and when they do, anyone with a C in their title, sometimes, VP and above as well cash in.
The rest of us are SOL!
These start up biotechs can be like crack cocaine, addictive, and once on that hard to get off.
Also, eventually people start asking about movement on your resume.

You keep referencing biotech, yet ZS was far from a biotech. And ZS9 is not a biotech product. Do you even understand what biotech is?

This is an easy one- biotech is not big pharma.
    Biotech is certainly not AZ.
