So where do we go from here? The elephant in the room is the need for new leadership in MITG.

How often do you find yourself on a "all hands on deck" WebEx and want to scream out:

"BD, we're all adults here. so stop acting like

    1. things are getting better and
    2. you actually give a crap about the salesforce!"

All that guy cares about is making the internal number and getting more stock options/bonus.

It amazes me that our leadership has been so shitty for so long. I doubt it changes unless MITG misses hitting the number and Omar starts asking questions.

If you are simply looking for BD to guide your actions to hit your #, then YOU are the problem.

I'm no big fan of DeBoda but our problems are way above his pay grade. He probably can't even believe half the nonsense he has to deliver but the difference is that he has learned to be an honorless liar in order to preserve his own 6.

MITG Q3 v Q3 revenue decreased 15.6%. And since MITG is the 2nd largest division, when they don't make the number...neither does Medtronic.

And to whoever said Deboda is just carrying the water for people above him...whatever.

This division has not innovated jack shit in YEARS. You know it, but you've hung around anyway. Keep working your 20-30 hours per week, and shut the fuck up. Otherwise, grab your sack, get another job and get ready to work for a living.

Enjoy sitting there with your collective thumbs up your backside. Robotics is eating your breakfast lunch and dinner.

One day this will make a great case study on how a market leader in MIS was caught flat footed, with its pants down and head in the sand. It'll never fly in Gen Surg they said.....

In COV/MDT's case it's reap it b*tches because you failed to sow.

Left this sinking ship last year after 20 years through all three of the Covidien business groups. Sad but there is no magic widget that is going to solve the robotics and reprocessing problem. The leadership from CB on down has no idea how to manage in the face of true competition, way to much experience with a monopoly from energy. The fact that this team has not been turned over in the past 24 months shows you how disconnected the Medtronic leadership team is from MITG. The only thing delivering the number each quarter is paying points on distribution loading.
I was surprised on how weak the leadership team from Surgical really was and at some point in the next 18 months that entire team will be let go. Strategy to deal with everything happening in the market can't be to just to place more capital. Bizarre on how bad this group was up close compared to the perception.

This post pretty much nails it on the head.

How long until Omar and the Medtronic leadership see that this division is being held together with duct tape?
