With Takeda buying Shire recently for $62B, do you think there’s a decent chance that AstraZeneca gets acquired? Some analysts seem to think AstraZeneca would be among the most accretive to a potential acquirer. If so, when do you think it would happen? Who do you think might come knocking? AbbVie? Pfizer? Roche? Merck? Amgen? Other?

The British Government will never allow a foreign drug company to take over AZ a UK company which it considers to be a global pharmaceutical champion

AZ and its stockholders missed its best opportunity when they fought off the Pfizer bid. Why the fuck would anyone want to take over this train wreck. We burned thru the cash reserves buying back stock to artificially inflate our stock price. We have no pipeline and have had to resort to selling me too drugs and combinations of generics. We are the laughing stock of the industry with physicians and health care providers. This train will continue to run until it totally derails.

Stop your fucking whining and crying!!!!! The reason why we won’t be bought is because of Brexit and the uncertainty in Europe. This company has come along was and has one of the best pipelines in the industry.........don’t take my work for it look up what all the analysts are saying and how this company has turned it around. If you are SO fucking unhappy, leave and go somewhere else you cretinan!!
No companies are without fault, but I have been in this industry for many years and I marvel at the constant bitching and negativity that is displayed everyday on this website.
If you all are fed up then leave, and find a job that pays well, company car or allowance, vacation, bonuses, freedom, and other amenities!!!! Damn, I feel good now........:)

AZ would be an affordable company to be acquired by any of the big pharma players, with a market cap of $89 billion, a portfolio of promising oncology and respiratory drugs, a decent biotechnology group at MedI in Gaithersburg, and an R&D centered near one of the most prestigious, educational institutions in the world, Cambridge.

With the attempted takeover by Pfizer 4 years ago, Britain learnt there are no guarantees the takeover company would not layoff British workers and slowly wreck AZ's infrastructure of supporting Education, Science and R&D once it was acquired.

Precarious economic conditions from Brexit makes the UK government even less willing now to let go of the country’s industries. Even for the right price, on balance, the obstacle to an AZ buyout may end up being political rather than financial.

The only situation more dire and messed up than AZ's is the U.K.'s. If you think our government is a chaotic mess, you should study what is going on in the U.K. AZ and the U.K. deserve each other.

Trump stuck it to Pfizer just like he is sticking it to the U.K. and Germany. You may not like his personality but he is getting shit done. We pay billions to keep troops and weapons in Germany while they don't pay shit for their own defense. The Americans have been subsidizing the drug prices in European countries for decades and now Trump is saying no more.

Instead of using the typical liberal approach of name calling, how about doing something really original and arguing a point that indicates that something the poster posted is inaccurate.

The infantile mentality of the liberals is astounding and scary all at one time. They have no logic and purely emotionally driven like a bunch of mentally ill pyients. They all need to move to Denmark and take antidepressants so they can live amongst the happiest people in the world.

Pfizer apparently failed to make a sufficient contribution in kind to the proper shell corporations, so they were punished. There is no limit to the corruption level of these gangsters.
ATT followed these rules and then they were able to get exactly what they wanted.

He is sticking it to the UK and Germany, our allies, and then kissing up to NK and the Rus Fed, our "rivals" With friends like him, who needs enemies!!

Do you think that NATO is being bullied by him to buy more lousy expensive stuff from his big donors in the military industrial complex? He certainly has absolutely no interest in their actual defense. F35s anyone?

You are ridiculous. Best employment, economy, tax reform and other social reform in years. You may not like him, however, he has done a tremendous amount to support the US and undo what his predecessors have done for generations. Sit back and watch the US gain prominence again without selling our souls, and if you have anything negative to say about our awesome country, then get the F out!!!

Having the most powerful military in the world is not a deterrent to aggression from our enemies if they don't believe you will ever use it. Russian and N. Korea thought Obama was a pussy that would never use the full power of our military to stop them. Russia took Crimea and part of Ukraine and Obama did nothing. N. Korea was launching missiles and testing nuclear weapons and Obama did nothing. Iran continued to build up nuclear capabilities and fund terrorism around the world and Obama gave them billions of dollars, much of it in cash in the middle of the night, to fund some more shit. Obama economy less than 1% GDP growth vs. Trump 4%. You may not like Trump's behavior but would you pick your heart surgeon based on personality or results?

Best at what? Increasing racial tension, increasing to all time record the number of people on food stamps, unemployment and disability. Best at apologizing where no apology was necessary. Best at ignoring Russian aggression and interference in our elections. He was a college professor who led like on. Talk, Talk, conference, talk, conference and in the end do nothing.

So then you're OK with an illegitimate president who lost the general election by over 3 million American votes, and only won the electoral college vote because of gerrymandering done at the state level, and who definitely appears to be a blatant Russian Agent. G7, NATO, UK, Germany, Canada, are these our enemies? They are his, and his puppet master's. Russia is our friend? Really?

Oh, and the economy, that was on this very same trajectory when his predecessor left office. Give him time he will crash the economy too. Trade war?? Only losers in those. Tax cuts for the rich? I thought the deficits mattered, don't they?

So you're OK with all that?
