Still out there generating hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue each year.

Betaseron is the cow that mother Bayer goes to milk away the revenue for other brands. IF only they spent 10% on M&S then this drug would have a chance to fight for another 5 years. But as it stands the last person to leave should turn off the lights...

Betaseron still has time left. It is still generating over 400 million in the us. Physicians are realizing the orals aren't that great and have gone back to the injectibles. Just need to maintain the base and get a few new starts.

Maybe we start playing hardball again with the MCOs and watch us knocked of formulary again. We are our own worst enemies when it comes to this drug.

Well if management gets a clue, maybe they will not try to squeeze the MCOs this time.

Betaseron is on life support. Absolutely no support from corporate.

Well corporate let them launch the betaconnect injector and now there is the accompanying communication software setup coming out soon. Developing that stuff and launching it costs $$$$, so that's a good sign.

Betaseron will be around for a while. What would be a better sign is acquiring a follow-up drug/second product for us to carry.

Goal is 1500 NPTs. Will be lucky to do 1100. So how long will we be around? Time will tell?

The software extension to Beta Connect is, at best, a pitiful attempt to revive a dying brand. If management thinks this will rebound sales, then the corporate directors need to recall them and send them back to business school. If the limited resources given to neurology were spent wisely - and not on MSLs and CNEs who do little, if anything, to drive sales (does the word "programs" mean anything?) - perhaps Betaseron would have a chance. Given the current climate and management, this division is DOA.

By the way, the bonus plan is really lousy: $1100 per NPT with very few reaching the "kicker"? Most of us will make less than half of what we made last year. But maybe that's by design. As a previous poster said, We will not even come close to the 1500 NPTs set by management. That's the benefit of selling a dying brand, albeit a good one, that was horribly - HORRIBLY - marketed.

The management for Neurology is ridiculous. Yes, I agree that programs would be better than adding more MSL's and Nurses. Add a few more reps and make the territories smaller. How long can this continue????

It is a shame because betaseron is a great drug. Management keeps trying strategies that overlook the obvious-doctors only care about themselves. Our competitors have mastered the game without incident. So yes the game can be played while maintaining compliance. But why do something you know works, when you can waste time and money on other crap.

Absolutely nothing! My Dr said he can't believe Bayer has ANY sales reps out in the field anymore. The docs don't need a rep. It's a 26 year old drug with a new injector. No new data to discuss just handholding for drug shipments.

Seems to me the Beta Nusres and MSLs could handle everything. Get rid of the Regional Managers aka "District Managers". Mine is worthless, totally milking Bayer while terrorizing the reps, female reps In particular...
It would save Bayer a ton of money to change the business model. Maybe a few Key Account Executives that report directly to Mike F. Not contract reps, seasoned Bayer Betaseron reps!
Bayer only really needs 10 KAE nationwide, there would be huge territories but it's doable. It is sustainable and it would be cost effective. But what do I know?

Well, his days as manager are numbered. HR has had several complaints about his behavior toward women...stay tuned.
