As a rep I'm baffled at how to handle this. I've been approached by hospital staff and my manager doesn't see eye to eye with me and thinks very highly of this employee who has made some very big mistakes, perhaps she's giving him some attention too. I've been told to let it play out, but it's my business on the line and my reputation is tied to the company and my performance over the years

Sounds like an energetic little girl! 1. Is she got? 2. How is her body? 3. Would you take her for a test run? 4. Your business is at risk, nothing you can do about it, may as well wet your beak. Please get back to us and let us know how she was.

False..... MDT does not allow this type of interaction with docs (insert sarcasm here).

Yeah, right. They probably condone it and call it "co-marketing development." Some reps would sell their kids if they could make a buck, and MDT perfected the art of putting lipstick on a pig and calling it a supermodel.

You're baffled???? For crying out loud! Tighten up the boot straps and handle it. BTW... Your reputation is not tied to the company. It's the other way around.

Unfortunately a lot of hospital staff thinks I hired her, but obviously I didn't. I would've never hired her had it been my choice. The choice was my DM's and he's been hoodwinked or blown.

    Let it play out.
Make sure the staff knows you don't think it's right and if the guy isn't a producer, shed his business - that is if the relationship can be confirmed.
This exact thing happened in an adjacent territory and they actually ended up getting married. No bun in the oven or anything! So you never really know the whole story until it plays out. May take a while though.

If it's a public/county hospital, give hospital staff your compliance 800 # and then step away! In my area of country (SE) a hospital began to suddenly purchase only one company's pace makers. An Investigation insured because the hospital became sole source (we are talking Very High Numbers) for this vendor at Medical Director's request/guess who he was sleeping with??? MD got canned, Company was fined and entire process revamped. True story!

Funny thing is... other vendors get blasted with this all the time but it is holier than thou MDT that controls 2 accounts in our region with 'relationships'.

Stones.... stones.... stones.... MDT controls LARGE market share in several accounts in a Mid-West city with 'relationships'. And no, I'm not going to name the city or the people because if you work there you know exactly who and where. It's not even a secret.

No way. MDT does not allow such nonsense.
