I was contacted about a Coronary account manager position. Looking for some insight on this space. Was told 170k at plan with most earning above that. Currently in the OR but looking to get into the vascular side. Is this a healthy opportunity?
Be careful, ASPS are falling through the floor and Abbotts stent is inferior to BSX and Medtronic in terms of visibility. its all contract driven as well
With the addition of St. Jude does Abbott have a large piece of the GPO pie? What’s the contract side look like with Medtronic and Boston?
St Jude did nothing for ABT. They got rid of the only good thing from STJ and that is the Angio-seal. Terumo got the big end of that small stick. Mdt has a name and a valve. Bsc has watchman, valve. More to bargain with. Abt is being whooped all over the country.
Just had an in-person interview for a Coronary role and most of the above seems true based on what the manager said. BSX has most of the contracts in the area and seems to be the leader in the DES space. Seems like the focus would be their OTC product over stents. Was told comp would start around 180 but if territory grows obviously the comp would. Also know two reps out on the west coast in the mid 200's but contracts are more in their favor.
Yes, that is accurate. Current Coronary rep. BSX and MDT have the contracts in most areas due to the reasons above. Until we start contracting with Mitraclip and when the valve comes out it will be hard to win the big ones. However, OCT is a main focus but most of your pay is with DES. There are different tiers for comp which mid-size territories start at 170-180 and large territories start at 210 and up. Overall great company and paid well during the lockdowns. Great place to start and move into TAVR eventually.
How about the sexual harassment? Same across the board at Abbott? Also, isn’t TAVR a me too product just like coronary?
