(Corrects first bullet point on date for FTC ruling)

    * Grifols may close Talecris deal by March 21

    * FTC decision could still come beforehand (Adds details, background)

MADRID, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Spanish healthcare firm Grifols (GRLS.MC) has reached an agreement with U.S. regulators to extend the date for a ruling on its $4 billion takeover of peer Talecris (TLCR.O).

In a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Grifols said it would give the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) 30 days notice on the date of closure for its Talecris bid, and that closure would not be before March 21.

"We're bringing forward the paperwork for closing the deal and at the same time the FTC gains more time for its deliberations," a Grifols spokesman said.

Grifols launched its bid for Talecris in June to become the world's third largest maker of blood plasma products, competing with rivals such as Baxter International (BAX.N) and Australia's CSL (CSL.AX). (Reporting by Tracy Rucinski; Editing by Hans Peters)

Extension?????? What is taking sooooo long I am tired of waiting around watching the life and profitability sucked out of this place. That is another month for leadership to find a new way to add to their going away packages. The FTC is costing Grifols millions in value. I hope they have a fast transition plan ready this place can not go rutterless forever.
