    Re: David Painter, my idol

I hear he has no substance and is merely a corporate cheerleader, offering reps nothing more than phoney support for ridiculously huge sales goals that two-thirds of them are unable to achieve. He's jumped off of one sinking ship onto another, and anyone who relocates to the NYC metro area for a temporary job at GAC is a fool! GAC will be relocated off Long Island when its lease is up in two years...

I spoke with a number of their reps in Chicago and the attitude is more upbeat that it has been in the past. Sounds like a happier place to work now!

Get real. You were at the wrong booth. Or maybe it was staffed with the latest wave of new hires.

What is there to complain about. Tulsa appears to have good management, they do have great products, they have great market share, they have excellent clinical support, and their reps have reasonable territory size. I know that they had a shakeup when KC took over as sales manager but that happens. I know that some good people left or were let go in the process, but that is life in the corporate world.

Good? Thats a crock of shit! New year, new expectations, new fucked up comp plan, and all reps must hit over 95% every month or they get put on "plan". I think half the company is on plan now. What company actually puts reps on plan for not achieving 95%-
Most sales companies are glad to see their reps hit just 90% in this economy. Shit, in this economy most companies are tanking or are flat. Its only a matter of time before the job market changes and these reps will be outta here!

I am just curious, what is the average Quota per month for Tulsa reps?
Is it 100K, 150K, 200K or 250K or higher per month?

I hear it all the time and looking from the outside in I can observe alot. Good at TDS? Not! 4 of the best reps in your organization gave their notices in the past 2 weeks and they are lining up to leave! That is what happens when you have leaders in the division who are paid on profit and loss. Bill & Keith C make more money every time they save money and dip into the pockets of the employees. Wake up people! Several RM's and ASD's could care less. There are even a couple of ASD's who have 2nd jobs for crying out loud! Nice remodel there Andregg...see you on "Flip that House" episode on HGTV next week... Oh and the latest report came out with the salaries of the top dogs at corporate.. makes you sick to see their numbers posted when the peons and people in the trenches get cut cut cut on their merit increases. From a shareholder standpoint it makes me gag!

I am looking at a job as an inside sales rep. I have been reading the boards and have worked for a company like this before ( or as it looks like ). I guess everything is the same?

SO is it the typical beat the people down all the time and are never happy at what you do ?

    Thanks,

I am looking at one of the Implant Specialist roles...outside rep. So, whats the deal with management? It sounds like they are trying to grow their implant business, starting with their Endo customers, but is this worth it? I know they have an over-priced implant, with difficult and expensive restorative procedures. What can be said about their regenerative products and surgical products? What is the turn-over rate like? Any detailed feedback is appreciated.

    Re: David Painter, my idol

Trust me, GAC and a lot of Dentsply are an absolute sinking ship! I work for a competing company, and have a lot of friends that work for GAC, and Painter is an absolute waste. Talks a good game, gives you a lot of hope with his passion and dreams, and follows through on absolutely nothing! He's a waste of a manager, won't go to bat for you, and is corporate through and through. He's living off of the tit of every Dentsply division that he can fondle, and is burning through reps faster than a wildfire... Oh, and don't even mention the non-compete he tried to get everyone to sign.... rediculous... if you sign it, you're absolutely screwed for the rest of your career... run away as fast as you can, if you ever want to get anywhere in the dental industry...

I saw on Careerbuilder where Brasseler is hiring a Regional Sales Manager in North Carolina. Anyone know any details?

I used to work for TDS. I still keep in touch with a lot of the accounts. I have often asked docs how they liked my replacement. The response was that they had never met him. Understand, I have been gone for years! I recently found out the reason why, he is a former pharma rep! A UPS driver that brings lunch! I remember the day when the managers laughed at pharma and now they hire them. To do what? Buy lunch and ask you how you golf game is? It is a shame that a company that once was a market leader has sunk so far!

Don't paint with such a broad stroke. It's true that many pharma reps are weak, but there are many that are solid reps. I have one that works for me that runs circles around a few of my other reps that have no pharma background. My experience has been that there are those that breeze through pharma, and there are those that work their tails off and really excel. On paper they can look mostly the same, but in an interview you can tell the difference.

Although I agree that there can be a "diamond in the rough" 90+% are not worth even interviewing. They don't even understand the concept of selling. I have interviewed plenty, as the market has been flooded with them the past few years. Very few have made it past the first or second interview. Of those that did get hired, most washed out within the first 18 months. They have a skill set that works well in pharma but when the heat is on and you have to move the relationship from "professional visitor" up to "trusted advisor" they don't do well.

90% not worth interviewing? Not even on the phone? I think 90% is high. I'd say it's more like 75%.

And if you work for TDS, most pharma reps will do just fine. They ain't advisers.
