The Dows recent steep climb brings back bad memories from 1987 Black Monday where it tanked 22%. I woke up that afternoon and my Vanguard portfolio including High dividend /High yield large and mid-cap U.S. stocks was DOWN $2M in one Fkn day. Even though Valuations are higher today, the GAAP price/earnings ratio was about 20Xs earnings in 1987 compared with 23 times today. In 87 fed funds rate was 6.75% versus 1.25% now. The market WILL crash again. With current World events looming, something could cause an avalanche effect on market. Don't get too smug or aggressive in high risk high yield stocks. The bottoms gonna fall out again IT ALWAYS DOES...Highs Lows ....Lows Highs ...cyclic FACT....... China could throw the first punch.

Jim Rogers who started Quantum Fund with George Soros (whom I hate ) went apocalyptic ! He said, “A $68 trillion ‘Biblical’ collapse is poised to wipe out millions of Americans.”

Mark Faber, Dr. Doom himself, recently told CNBC that “investors are on the Titanic” and stocks are about to “endure a gut-wrenching drop that would rival the greatest crashes in stock market history.”

And the prophetic economist Andrew Smithers warns, “U.S. stocks are now about 80% overvalued.” Smithers backs up his prediction using a ratio which proves that the only time in history stocks were this risky was 1929 and 1999. And we all know what happened next. Stocks fell by 89% and 50%, respectively.

Even the Royal Bank of Scotland says the markets are flashing stress alerts akin to the 2008 crisis. They told their clients to “Sell Everything” because “in a crowded hall, the exit doors are small.”

Blue chip stocks like Apple, Microsoft, and IBM will plunge.

But there is one distinct warning that should send chills down your spine … that of James Dale Davidson. Davidson is the famed economist who correctly predicted the collapse of 1999 and 2007.And if Davidson calls for a 50% market correction, one should pay heed.

The news last week of faster job growth and higher wage growth fed fears that the Fed would raise rates to keep down inflation, which sent bonds and stocks down (bad for most investors) due to justifiable fears that the Fed will tighten faster than is priced in the credit markets. The surge in growth and wages came because of both the fiscal stimulation and the rekindling of animal spirits, thrusting the economy into late-cycle capacity constraints, which is leading to the expectations of faster Fed tightening. In other words, fiscal stimulation is hitting the gas, which is driving the economy forward into the capacity constraints, which is triggering interest rate increases that are hitting the brakes, first in the markets and later in the economy.
