Covid 19 has landed at SN for a few. Potentially an entire region getting shutdown for now was the rumor I heard earlier today. Keep Memphis safe, hope everyone doing their best. We do thank you for sticking with us and keeping things coming while being safe!

Are Smith and Nephew reps getting paid similar to the reps at Johnson and Johnson/ Depuy Synthes or what is their program for employed sales associates vs 1099?

Still no comp plan yet for any. 1099’s were told to look into the CARES act. (Small business loan) Medtronic is getting 90% of 2019 ave pay for next three months. It’s time for corporations to step up and take care of the people that drive revenue.

It’s not a loan if you are a W-2 rep. 2 VERY different compensation arrangements rolled out today depending if you were a W-2 or 1099.

Puzzling they did that when W-2’s are more likely to be junior reps who came up through the ASR program and likely work for a 1099 senior rep.

It’s a big FU to the 1099 sales force and will cause division and tension. I am sure some of those 1099’s who own the business will be out talking to the competition who value their sellers.

better believe it. 1099’s will all be looking to jump ship after this. Stryker always asking us and now it’s making more sense then ever switch everyone and bail. Companies will get desperate and guarantees get big for a few years if you have the business to come with. Shareholders gonna be pissed when 1099 sales team bails and revenue drops hard!

Im a 1099. This company is an effing joke. Why would a 1099 stay after the dust settles?

I’m confused. Who is your employer? 1099 usually means you’re independent. You chose to be independent. Why should the company be responsible for you? If you want company benefits, now might be a good time to re-examine your situation and make better decisions more in line with your priorities.

What most new reps who have no choice but to be “employed” don’t understand is that 1099’s surgeons are loyal to them and if they go so does the business. SN knows this and cant Do anything about it but kiss the business goodbye. That’s why 1099’s can call any company and get a nice guarantee at any time. It’s employees who don’t have those relationships with their surgeons, therefore they have to be employed because they aren’t really relevant and can be replaced by anyone for less pay at anytime. Most 1099’s have multiple other lines and are gonna be fine regardless of what SN does. It’s up to SN how much business they are willing to lose.

fact: this company could care less about any one specific rep. all they see is an expense line. the lower they can get case coverage for , the better for them.
reps being valued here ended a long long time ago. Be smart and watch out for yourself and your own career. No one cares whatsoever about individual reps, not even your VP of sales. He probably gets bonused on lowering sales cost. so either work for less, or get ready to be replaced by someone who will. other companies love ready made market share , and they’ll pay handsomely for it.

In this industry it’s a tough conversation to have with ones surgeon that is totally financially motivated when that same surgeon is not making money either and is laying off his office staff during the same tough time. Everyone is suffering at the same rate. For what it’s worth.

Tough conversation? If you haven’t had it with your surgeons at anytime you aren’t that close. Surgeons laying off office staff? Everyone of my surgeons clinics are still open, and they are all still seeing patients. If overhead is that bad then people need to be let go anyways, great excuse to trim the fat.

Surgeons make money when they are cutting in the OR. An office full of support staff with no money coming in is tough. Surgeons are the wrong people to complain too about money issues.

who’s complaining to their surgeons?? Cmon rookie, what has it been, a month of no cases, maybe? You think they get reimbursed immediately after a case? Lol. I guess you are W2 and don’t have another line to offer them to make more money? Stem Cells, PRP, braces, ect ect?? Surgeon injects one stem cell injection a day in clinic that’s minimum 5 grand a week for him after expenses. If your just a box opener and not making yourself and your surgeons extra money it’s no wonder why you struggle to have normal conversations with them. It’s obvious you don’t have much experience and live paycheck to paycheck still.
