This is REALLY not a good company, even for a newbie trying to get experience under his/her belt. There are better small companies to get your start with!

If you have no experience, this is your BEST shot as they aren't currently hiring experienced reps. There is a slim chance you could get a job in pharma anywhere else. The job pool is too full of experienced reps. Former employees are usually the ones discouraging people so don't listen to the negativity. Pay is descent with a good bonus, car, etc.

I just saw this thread from FIVE years ago!!! And it appears NOTHING has changed with this company. Doesn't all of this sound familiar? Thank God I have not been here that long. What a place to work!

They will make stuff up if you look at them the wrong way. Run run run from Arbor!

    Advice to new rep:

If you honestly want to be in this industry take your chance with Arbor, but listen very close. They don’t care about you, anytime you see something good chalk it up to smoke and mirrors. Corporate and management are full of monsters with masks. Get in and immediately start looking of other opportunities. 6months at the most and get the hell out. Whatever you do cover your ass. Make sure you do everything by the book. They will try to find a reason to fire you regardless of performance. Welcome to hell newbie, you just sold your soul to the devil.

You really need to survive for a year here and then leave. No company is going to consider someone w 6 months of experience.

It is. A lot of people seem to get canned or leave before their 1 year anniversary with Arbor. So no matter what your situation is, it is a risk to come here. But if you are unemployed and need a job, feel free to jump on this shuttle boat because that is all it is.

So many people on here don't understand what Arbor is.

Arbor is a great company for 2 reasons

    1) if you want to break into pharma. This is the best company to do it. You think Astra, Merck etc going to hire an ex personal trainer.. No. For 90% of people working here.. Your plan should be.. Get in, work really hard for a year or 2 then bounce with solid results

    2) that remaining 10% that want to get that DM experience. You try getting that anywhere other then Arbor with less then 10 yrs sales experience in Pharma. You won't

Recruiters look down at Arbor.. Complete trash. Good results are good results... Dealing with Drs, pharmacies, insurance coverage etc. If anything, it's harder at Arbor then at those more established companies who have better services, coverage etc

If you are trying to be a lifer rep.. Then you are in the wrong place. Arbor isn't that company. If you don't fall into either 1 or 2.... Then you are in the wrong place

I would say that is true but the fact is that a rep shouldn’t be a manager after just two years. That is why other companies make you wait. It’s just a matter of getting cheap labor for Arbor.
Arbor is doing a disservice to these people because they haven’t experienced enough as a rep in just two years to be a good manager. Also you get people that are just climbers and they are the worst managers to work for.

You just pointed out 2 reasons why Arbor is a terrible company with a reputation that they deserve. #1 hire a personal trainer? Really? That is where they set the bar. #2 They mostly hire people from within to be managers. Guess what? Those people are mostly inexperienced reps that think they are great when really, they just got lucky with their messed up goals. Any rep that becomes manager at Arbor is an absolute joke!!! If they weren't a manager before at another pharma company, I can guarantee you they are nearly worthless. Pay attention pharma companies...don't bother hiring a manager from Arbor. Arbor does a poor job in selecting people that have the skills to be a good manager. And anyone with half a brain is looking to leave this place, not move up.

The problem with getting promoted to DM after two years at Arbor is there is absolutely no training or support to help them succeed. You get promoted and then fall on your face. Good rep doesn’t equal good manager. Arbor doesn’t help their managers succeed which is why so many are terrible and quickly run off their cheap labor. There are very few good managers in this company. I am fortunate to have had one of the best!!!!!

Bad managers? Let’s talk about the manager that had multiple claims of harrassment and just got transferred and promoted! #ArborWay

Arbor is a bottom of the barrel pharma company. What else would you expect?
