First to worst in shoulders now

We are now one of the bottom tier shoulder companies. Stryker is going to eat our lunch with Tornier’s bag. Shoulders were the one thing holding them back. This also eliminates the hope that we were going to buy Tornier as an improvement. Waiting on Depuy to innovate and update could take ages. ZB, DJO, Stryker are all now arguably more competitive in this space with Arthrex catching up and Exactech floating around. We are also losing out on the thought leaders in shoulders. It’s a shame to see what has happened with Depuy in this segment.

Couldn’t agree more. Depuy seems to think they have the best reputation in the industry (they don’t) and that their “clinical data” will keep surgeons using their products (it won’t). If a surgeon were considering options for a shoulder system to use, what about the Unite/Xtend would be convincing enough to get that surgeon to use Depuy???

Stryker purchasing Tornier is really bad news :(

Wright just “too expensive” for JNJ..... but SN now trying to outbid Stryker. I suppose they are all just dumb?

Maybe if the Wright products had a sprinkle of asbestos on their implants, we would be interested?

That’s what happens when you promote to meet “HR goals” & ignore qualifications

Or blatantly ignore qualifications based on the old “Warsaw good ole boy” network and promote humps to director level roles that have no business in those jobs.

100% correct. What happened to us? Maybe we should be called dePuke now.

The problem is that everyone is just trying to get promoted to another position. There have been a lot of questionable hires in the name of diversity. These people have no real clue what’s going on in the real world. No one in the field respects these hires(from product/marketing managers all the way to RVPs). 10 years ago there were a lot of people from Depuy you as a rep or manager would have been happy to put in front of customers. That is not the case today. When the you loose touch with your customers then you fall behind which is what has happened.

For years, the shoulder team didn’t listen to customers or the field explain that we were falling behind in shoulders. These were typically dismissed and we were told to focus on market share and survivorship. We are now pretty widely regarded as a company with old technology in the shoulder space. The younger surgeons are gravitating to Tornier, DJO, Exactech, ZB and Arthrex.

This is the same of our hip and knee teams also. If they continue to hire and promote this caliber of people you will see Depuy drop to that 4th spot.

Depuy has a lot bigger issue to consider, that would be the issue of using ECA Medical Single Use Torque Limiting and surgery –ready procedure kits. In the past few months communications have been exchanged by the J&J legal department associated with Bioburden testing and falsification of sterilization records involving this product. Not sure how much and how critical this may sound but certainly will have a major effect in the manner in which Depuy conducts audits and follow-up on known compliance violations. In fact am looking for few of the Depuy stock holders of record that may be interested in a possible class action, regarding this matter. If interested you may contact me or look me up Benjamin Ghanoongooi on LinkedIn for further detail.

As it seems this manner of not listening to others point of view is practical and common in, throughout the J&J family of companies. However sooner or later the law will catchup to you guys, whether you like it or not. In fact in regards to Using ECA Medical and their incompetent management ability to maintain proper bioburden records and not to fabricate the level of Bioburden data to pass product through subcontracted sterilization facilities like Pro Tech , referencing Your Edge ID: 396377 could certainly put things in a whole different prospective for some one of stock holder of record. However the point of this reply comment is I am interested to communicate and conduct an evaluation for a possible class action sue that may set things right and help the company to take proper and appropriate measures in order to recalibrate it’s management oversight and ability to perform as needed. If interested please look me up Benjamin Ghanoongooi on LinkedIn.

    Benjamin,
It is completely obvious you are a self serving, self promoting “expert”. You are so righteous you go on these “boards”, “websites”, and whatever is available on the internet speaking of how all the medical companies are bad and you know everything! How many companies have fired you? How serious do people take you? Looking for class action lawsuits etc. You are a bottom feeder are you not?
Go away! Go somewhere someone actually gives a damn about all your B.S.! You are just out to make a buck!

I learned all about shoulders from Dr. Charlie Rockwood back when we conquered the world with Global.

I learned all about Reverse shoulders when we bought Delta in 1997 and conquered the world.

Then J&J came along in 1999 and screwed everything up (as of course they did subsequently for a global winner like Synthes thereafter).

J&J is a cancer for orthopaedic companies.

Your so old you’ve forgotten the timing- We didn’t have Delta Reverse until after JNJ bought Depuy....

You are completely wrong. We had Delta reverse from when we bought Landanger in 1997.

Landanger was itself comprised of Landos, Medinov and AMP. 11 knees, 37 hips and one GREAT shoulder (Delta - which only came in reverse).

Corail came from the Landos part of that trio of companies.

Most of what was bought was junk, but Landanger had a better dual-mobility product in 1997 that we now sell today. D'oh!

If you want a history lesson, you came to the right place.

The history lesson is great but we need to buy Exactech now to remain relevant!
