Former FBI hostage negotiator Chris Voss gives his take on Trump. "Several other negotiations experts have pointed out that Trump's negotiating style — a zero-sum strategy in which there's only one winner and one loser rather than both sides getting something — may be better suited to real estate deals, where you can always find another deal partner, than more high-stakes political negotiations where it is imperative that two sides reach an agreement." Meanwhile, Voss is impressed by Trump's counterparts, Democratic leaders like Charles Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who Voss says has a lot of negotiating experience now that she's in her second stint as speaker.
Voss is probably pretty authoritative if he was ascertaining the negotiation skills of non politicians but he’s obviously blinded by political considerations. If he’s impressed with Nancy and Chuck he’s off his rocker.
Biased, blatantly partisan opinion. How does he know what the Wall negotiations would be if the two stooges won’t come to the table? Win- Win is aways the intended outcome of negotiation. This is nothing more than a power struggle on the Dems part to maintain their voter base of the poor living on the handouts of the govt. They love these people because they won’t bit the hand that feeds them until a better option comes along and their “ loyalty” will change to the highest bidder.
You're blinded by your OWN political considerations. He's talking 'negotiating skills' not what he thinks of their politics. Right now they're at a standstill. His observation is 'generally', Trump's style works better in real estate than politics but it is certainly too soon to tell. My PERSONAL prediction is: When the government DOES reopen, BOTH side will claim victory and then the 2020 campaign spin will begin like deja-vu all over again.
No, I made an accurate observation that is true all too often which is people whose judgement you could trust in any other situation when politics gets involved you can’t trust. They allow their political leanings to color their judgement. To praise Pelosi’s and Schumer’s negotiating skills as superior to Trump’s is absurd on the face of it.
