Who really makes the decisions on formulary and non-formulary status at the VA?
I can not get a straight answer.

What do you mean? Does this mean that the vA will have PHS pricing next year?
The reason I want VA business is because they have a big budget for pharmaceuticals.

It depends on what class of drugs you are talking about. For instance there is only one oncology agent on the VA formulary and they will never put another one on again, although they use all and every agent out there. They put Gleevac on the oncologic formulary and it cost the VA system so much time, resources, and money to go through a useless process for a drug that they had no intentions on putting up a wall against anyway so smartly the oncology administrators said they will no longer review approved oncologics for formulary as the cost and resources needed are unnecessary and most if not all oncologics will be available to all appropriate patients.

So it really matters what class of drugs you are talking about. In oncology we never have to worry or think about the VA Formulary.

To the other posters point yes there are no price increases for VA drugs. Whatever your initial contracted price with the Federal Gov/DOD /CMOP/VA etc. that price is locked in place and cannot be raised with the normal yearly price increases most drugs have.
