He led a team of many newcomers to Novartis to a poor launch of Entresto! He let go a lot of very experienced and successful reps and managers formerly with Novartis! Now, he's backtracking and has advised management to go get back any ex-Novartian that is proven. What a joke?

Also, he took tenured/successful reps out of their territories to start from scratch in new ones. Hired a bunch of idiot robotic managers. And presented out on stage "memory makers"! I hope he becomes a memory!

Bottom line, they can hire more people, formally Novartis or not and its not going to make a difference until Novartis works out the managed care issues! Some offices have a dedicated staff to work through prior authorizations all day long, but most rural offices run on a tight budget and simply do not have the man power to deal with all the obstacles ( paperwork ) put in front of them to prescribe...until this is fixed, most territories will suffer from the lack of leadership.

I give a lot of respect to the guy that spoke up today on the conference call. The company's response to high drug cost and office access issues was to hire more reps?? The big win they shared with the Medicare copay of $50-70 was sad.

I'm thinking they are hiring now so that the new reps will be trained in time for PIPs to roll out. This is a way to buy time for corporate.

Senior Leadership is the issue- The "View" is running the company. When one attends a national meeting ( like the one in early 2015) and there is no mention of market share, numbers driving the business, and how NVS can grow share....there is a problem. While focusing on the "patient" is certainly important, until we focus on the financial foundation making our products accessible and available we are screwed. This touchy and feel good vibe may sound good, but this is not the time to be managing the business this way. NVS stock has dropped like a rock.

On Fridays's call our CEO is hosting questions like she is giving a district conference call? WTF... of course the field input is important, however, they let all the great people go and what was left is people wishing they had been given a package. Let's face facts, the current shake up is not going to matter. The new leader has never held one job for more than one/two year at a time! Look at her resume, she was a DM in 2005???? We need a seasoned executive to lead us...I am not inspired or motivated. It is a joke, really....

I'm seriously wondering where the disconnect is between senior leadership and the field. We have been telling them that the problem is not share of voice and in my territory it is not the belief that Entresto isn't a good drug. Most of my physicians think its a much needed option. The problem is the ability of the office to sift through all of the paperwork to get the drug approved and even then, can the patient afford it? Just because there is access to a drug doesn't mean an office has the time or ability to jump through all the hoops to get approval. Many of my offices don't have staff that is capable of filling out the forms correctly, nor do they have the time. Market access specialists would have been a better use of money vs expanding the salesforce.

I think the disconnect is that we're told to go through our manager for everything. Then they communicate it on their Friday calls....and remember its political!
Totally agree, expanding the sales force will not help at all. We need market access specialists or better contracts with insurance companies. spot on post!

Enough about the process..this is a pill, try selling a biologic in a crowed market.... Stop crying about the need to help the offices. Take the time to learn how to instruct the office to fill out the forms...It's called customer service. As far as leadership goes, try hiring some MEN

the point is the company does nt allow you take the proper amount of time in the office. Because they hammer you on calls per day.

and remember most of the territories are 3 hrs apart one side to the other. So you cant just drop in.

So let me get this straight...you complain that adding reps is bad but then say you don't have enough time to provide the appropriate level of service to an office because the territories are to big... Doesn't more reps and smaller territories help that? Also didn't they had more targets? Managed care is never going to be great for a new drugs when generics are available to treat the disease. Lowest branded copy with a PA is as good as it is going to get. Part of our job is to convince the doctor to use our drug but another part is help the patient get access...educate yourself and the staff on managed care for your drug...

Oh yea, it's that simple! There are only certain things we are allowed to do for the office.....Like give them EC and go over it.....EC is a huge disappointment! If you think the problem is as simple as hiring men, then voice your opinion Mr. Misogynist at the next town hall or with upper management.

I can tell you dont work here. Did you just get hired? You have nt been here all of 2015, huh? "Educate the staff"....we all should have thought about that. Any advise for the hospital reps?

Identical to Gilenya launch. This company cannot have a successful launch because the leaders are always recycled failures from other failed launches.

Don't forget his epic failures in managing both the Transplant business and his Health Systems business.

I've sold in a crowded biologic market.. similar to what is going on now, just specialty pharmacy vs retail. At the the end of the day, if a patient can't pay for it, they won't start it. As always, the incompetent few (those who set the financial goals and forecast) royally fuck it up for everyone, rarely launch an effective pricing/strategical managed care campaign, all the while taking ZERO accountability for a ridiculously predictable outcome. The leaders are nothing more than figure heads having their strings pulled by the puppet masters who have no idea what reality is...
