Speaking of outdated, never heard the “sky is falling no need for reps” jargon before.....like every year for the past 50. Just don’t need shitty reps like you, face to face sales in nearly every industry will always be needed.

To OP: GSK has been a mess since (at least) 2011.

Yep! GSK has been catastrophe for the better part of a decade. Not a leader in any capacity of the organization. Because of that, managers operate with the philosophy of fear. That mentality works short term. After ten years of being whipped, demeaned, and treated as adolescents people are apathetic. Not the reps fault. Leadership created the problem.

Man up? That's your response? Unfortunately anything resembling any form of masculinity is crushed by this organization! Women dominate this organization. Political correctness is an understatement here. Speak up culture? Yeah right. This company lost its way years ago. Name one other company, in any industry, that has its sales force executing "coco"? It's a joke beyond anything you or I could have ever dreamed up. Leaders? Gimme break! The pendulum will swing back to some degree. People, this company is shrinking and will become a medium sized specialty organization. Eventually it will merge or be broken into pieces and sold off strategically. Our "leaders" screwed up over and over and over and over. Look at this joker Hal Baron. He's living phat. What a shame! Many things they could have done differently and they couldn't get out of their own way. Man up? I just did! Told the truth. Can you handle it?

Yes it’s true GSK has been a mess since early 2010s and constantly tries to out do the previous messes created. I anticipate more drama here before it gets any better.

Absolutely accurate. Any evidence of masculinity is considered the toxic kind in this organization. The paradox is that in the name of diversity they are actually obliterating diversity itself. Diversity of thought and opinion is not only discouraged, there is gradual replacement of people who dissent with those who simply nod and speak into the echo chamber. A little appreciated phenomenon is that Hal is forging multimillion dollar partnerships with people he used to work with at Roche and Genentech while he is at GSK. This whole CRISPR partnership connects him with his Ex Roche and Genetech colleagues via GRAIL to which he was appointed a board member of. The funny thing is that while GSK is laying off people Hal is spending money hand over fist and giving it to his friends.
GSK will cease to exist except as a faint shell of its former shell, and this will happen sooner than any of you anticipate. Respiratory is toast as will be HIV soon. Immunology and oncology are just a way for top leadership to shuttle funds elsewhere.

The last post comments are sad...but true. GSK will look very different in 2021. In 2020 you will see, yet again, more layoffs. Respiratory will more than likely be in the hands of contract companies like Syneos. HIV will be cut by 33% (less 1 rep per territory). Vaccines will will also be cut. There will be a very select few..a very very select few who find their way into Oncology. As for Immunology /Nucala, not sure. Nucala is dead man walking. 2020 is when all the changes will take place.

Hal Barron has a very simplistic view on science that was shaped by his former colleagues at Genentech and the Google world; he is not scientist himself. He believes every disease is mainly caused by genes, you need large numbers to find the causality (23andme), and then you fix the problem through CRISPR genome editing.. There are problems with each assumption. It’s lack of scientific depth.

That’s a bigger problem than the $800,000 spend on travel in a year.

Not sure what the last post is referring about. Message to the grammar police: People come on here and type, complain, and vent a mile a minute. Spelling and grammar are not what you should be focused on. You should be focused on the overall content. That being said, GSK is going down like a day old turd in the toilet bowl. Management, specifically FLLs have no idea on how to actually lead a team. inflated egos and ineptitude. Swoooosh! Down goes the turd! Look for respiratory to cut another 35% - 40% of the field at year end. FLL span of control to be a true 10 -12 ratio. It ain't no turd, that's the word!
