In your experience, what are some of the main objections and concerns health care professionals have about starting patients on meal-time or bolus insulin?

Training and management beat it into our heads that hypoglycemia is every doctors worst fear. Translation: insulin OD = lawsuit.

In reality, doctors are so busy they just don't want to take time to teach the pts how to do the injection and titration. Some pts get argumentative b/c they don't want to take a shot, some will promise to start that diet and exercise program, some will go on and on telling a 30yr old story about how their uncle lost his leg shortly after starting insulin. All this just takes up more of the doctors time, which irritates the doc. HCPs are under so much pressure these days to increase the # of pts they see per day. It's all about money. Most offices are now owned by hospitals and healthcare is a business. The more pts Drs see, the more revenue they generate. Most docs just give the pt another pill and send them on their way. Then they have time to see pt #35 for the day. Sad, but true.
