Change is the only constant in our lives and managing change in health care can become

challenging at times. Innovation is the creation of new thoughts or methods and innovation is

needed in health care in order to keep up with health care demands and its needs. “One of the key

concerns in health care management is management of change and health care professionals are

obligated both to acquire and to maintain the expertise needed to undertake their professional

tasks, and all are obligated to undertake only those tasks that are within their competence.” (Al-

    Abri, 2007).

A recent healthcare innovation includes the development of robotic surgery. With robotic

surgery, doctors can reduce the risk of infection along with less blood loss and scarring. Robotic

surgery usually allows a patient to have a quicker recovery period compared to open surgery.

“There are many benefits to having a Robotic surgery, some of which include, the surgeon

having a better visualization which leads to a more precise surgery. Other benefits include,

your surgeon having greater range of motion and dexterity, your surgeon can see a highly

magnified, high-resolution image of the operating field, your surgeon has better access to the

area being operated on and you have a shorter hospital stay and quicker return to daily

routine” (UCLA Health, 2020). Many different conditions and diseases can be treated using

robotic surgery which allows many more patients to consider utilizing this great tool.

While diseases and bacteria continue to change in the world, health care companies

continue to evolve to better respond to those changes. Large pharmaceutical companies are

constantly making strides to create new and more effective medications and vaccines that will

continue to help control the spread of any new bacteria/viruses that may make a new

appearance in our lives. “Our purpose is to help promote innovation in pharmaceutical

technologies to improve treatment practices in clinical settings, industry and the community”

    (Castanho, 2020).
