    Innovative management is a technique that many of the top ten companies in the United States use to ensure the success of their business. Some of those companies are Apple, Google, Amazon, and General Electric (G.E.). They lead in innovation, whether it is their products, technology abilities or their management styles. According to CLEVERISM (2019),"Innovation management is critical to having a sustainable business because it enables one to look ahead into the future and come up with new and creative ideas which the competitors would not have thought of.” The health care industry could use innovative management to help hospitals improve their workforce, as the health care industry is constantly changing (ORGANIZING4INNOVATION, 2019).

    What is Innovative Management?

    Innovative management is having the skills and knowledge to not only manage a team but also to have the ability to implement a new procedure or change. This can range from new products, a new strategic plan, or the way they deliver the management process. Many companies all over the world have an innovative management process, in which is why they lead a successful business and have low turnover rates with their employees. Hamel (2006), "A management innovation can be defined as a marked departure from traditional management principles, processes, and practices or a departure from customary organizational forms that significantly alters the way the work of management is performed.”

    Apple Innovative Management

    At Apple, Steve Jobs believed that the collaborative approach was the best management style for Apple. Under the collaborative approach, it encourages everyone to work together as a team to imagine and create new products. This includes the management team to work with the employees, as one, as a team. While still using traditional management techniques, mixing in innovative management techniques helps with the changes. Apple is constantly designing and creating the latest and newest electronic devices, and the innovative management process helps to keep things calm. Apple is listed as the top 5 innovative companies in America, and Steve Jobs’ way of managing helped Apple to stay in the lead with their competitors (Fischer, 2010).

    Best practices that could be implemented to improve the hospital workforce. According to ORGANIZING4INNOVATION (2019), “The purpose of innovation management is to ensure productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of the innovation processes. Quality and process improvement, clinical and translational research, drug or device development, information technology, mHealth and other technology innovation projects are all part of a health care organization’s innovation portfolio.” Using innovative management skills could increase employment satisfaction, patient satisfaction and help implement changes throughout the facility. Adapting some of the innovative ways Apple manages their employees and their business can help hospitals grow in both cliental and in revenue (Hamel, 2006).
