HIPAA and Medical Device Reps

    Are medical device reps allowed to see patient information? If trying to help get insurance coverage for specific patients, this should be perfectly compliant with HIPAA, right? This is not a device used in the OR, but it is a medical device, and prescriptions are filled through specialty pharmacy.
