Just wondering why managers are so concerned with metrics, is this how they are compensated?

Managers here are compensated like managers at every other large pharmaceutical company.

Such a brilliant answer could only come from a Pfizer manager!

So the inference is...every other large pharmaceutical company spends it's energy chasing meaningless metrics with marginal (at best) correlation to sales, so we should as well.

Here is a thought...How about empowering the sales force "own it" and listening to the experts who interact with physicians daily in the field. How about using some of your most knowledgeable marketing professionals "sales reps" to come up with the marketing plans for the products instead of hiring a Manhattan advertising firm. How about managers working with the reps to increase scripts instead of pushing reps to increase metrics which have little to do with increasing sales "no jerks"!

Managers are incentivized by what their servants achieve.
Simply put, they are parasites and do very, very little to affect performance of their underlings.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah . Yeah, right. I say FU.
You worthless bottom feeders are a joke. The best I can come up with to describe you clowns is a glorified admin. Ass......istant and/or an overpaid babysitter. You couldn't find your asses with a gps.
We reps tolerate you because we have to. Drs. laugh at your stupidity, and tell us never to bring your sorry asses back into their offices.
Stay out of our way and spend your time on "conference calls" where you do no harm.

The answer is simple. They have nothing else to do other than wasting time with ride alongs.
The metrics are merely busy work to have us do more than order lunches and collect signatures. It's a great paying, mind numbing, soul sucking tortuous existence for the "sales" force. It's even worse for the managers. Honestly, for what they really do, one manager could cover 100 reps. Checking mostly fictitious metrics, and OKing expense reports takes very little time or brains.

Sales is an art, metrics try to make it a science, understandable to those who are not good at it!

    It's all pathetic.

Does Pfizer rollout metrics for their Oncology division that are the same as primary care?

    Is that a rhetorical question?

No, just a genuine question as to the expectations. Are all divisions held to the same metrics in all of the divisions across the company?
