It will be mid January. And why work? they are not going to pick anyone up unless they have an open territory and you live within that geography. Then you'll probably be able interview for the position. If you think they (zoetis) are going to make a decision based on your results with the new launch- you are making a big mistake! You need to only think about yourself right now. Get your resumes out there.!!

We need to start looking now because we will be competing with the Novartis reps who will lose their jobs after the Elanco merger.

When PAH bought Ft Dodge, the let go most of the Ft Dodge people, very few are still at Zoetis now. That is the likely out come for the Abbott folks. The Zoetis sales force can handle the Abbot product line with little or no expansion. This is not a integration/merger, its a product line buy out, they dont need the rest. Neither does Abbott. AAH been losing $$ for years, very poor management and old outdated product line. Sorry Folks, call the recruiter quick.

What about the Abbott Park people? Will Zoetis offer them a position in NJ? Will Miles find jobs for them in other divisions? There are some good folks there like Sura.

75% of the in-house employees are irrelevant. Or rather, 75% of the in-house POSITIONS are irrelevant. Most of the admin-type of positions will likely be picked up for other divisions at corporate, depending on open positions....this will include brand managers. Any sales operations or training will probably be gone...they'll make them oversee the layoffs first though. AAH will try to push off as much to Zoetis as possible in the sale. For example, do NOT be surprised if Zoetis maintains most of the sales force of AAH, initially. AAH could layoff a small portion of the sales team without triggering their federal responsibilities under COBRA, meaning that they don't have to provide a certain amount of notice or a certain amount of severance. Then once the team is absorbed into Zoetis, that organization will handle the layoffs of the former AAH employees (say 3 months down the road), which will again keep THEM from having to follow the COBRA guidelines.

Basically, as another poster mentioned, unless you have an open territory in your area for either Abbott or Zoetis, you are likely to need to have that resume out and in recruiters' hands stat. Do NOT listen to your manager when s/he tells you that it's business as usual. It's not. A Harvard Business Review study showed that when a company announces plans to sell or merge, that productivity in the sales force drops by over 40%. And, that when the company announces plans to layoff employees, that productivity in the sales force drops by a WHOPPING 80%. Both figures are high, but the 2x as much less productivity is why AAH will not tell you ahead of time that jobs will be lost. They want to maintain sales figures until the ink is dry on the contract. And, also...they expect you not to work hard. Trust me, that is figured into the goals internally.

And managers are paid bonus to keep you there and tell you everything is good UNTIL the company is ready to let you go. They do what is in the company's best interest not yours.

Most of this post is a crock.Zoetis is not going to take anyone just to lay them off in 3 months - this quoting of cobra is just plain nonsense. What a waste of time and productivity it would be for a company to do all that. If you know anyone that went through this with them, it's not how they've operated. They will move quickly to figure out how many spots they need - this is a company that doesn't fool around or drag things out.One thing mentioned is correct is that productivity goes down during these things, so the smart thing to do for them is to get it done fast and that's what they did in the past. I agree that we need to start preparing for all possibilities, it would be stupid not to keep options open. Yes, there will be job loss, but guarantee that some will end up with zoetis. And, managers are not paid crap - they are in the same damn boat as everyone else and will be looking for opportunities

I've been down this road before. By December 30th, we will receive a time to be available for a conference call with our manager and an HR representative. They will then tell us one of 3 things...your position has been eliminated and you will receive a certified letter win 24 hours outlining the severance package and benefits available to you, zoetis has identified a need for an additional representative in your area that you are invited to interview for...based on that outcome you will either be rolled into the zoetis sales force or you will receive a severance package from Abbott, or Abbott has a need for sales reps in other divisions/areas that you are welcome to interview for...you will receive severance package now, but if you are offered any of the positions that you may be offered with Abbott, you forfeit the severance...even if you decline the position and no relo benefits provided.

Honestly, I am so glad that this joke of a division is about to be toast. I've spent 4 years laughing at the bumbling ineptitude of our management team, and then with the latest changes, I was stuck on Skinner's team. I will not miss having to listen to that passive aggressive, micro-managing, CYA-ing "manager" on conference calls. Hopefully at least a few of us end up at Zoetis. Otherwise, a (likely) minimum of 3 months severance should be enough to find something else.

    Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
