Landing First Pharma Job

Pharma sales is not what it used to be (it jumped the shark 19 years ago with the mass hiring that began in late 90's and then the Massive layoffs starting 10 years ago and still continuing)...

Pharma is no longer viewed as a pinnacle sales position...(unless your in that 5-8% percentile selling a highly specialized product --- just because you've dropped Nexium samples off at some specialty office doesn't count)

Still if you're just getting in, now its probably not the worst time....get with a company that has already gone thru the 3-4 downsizes in last 10 years and is already thin on sales force... look to move to 'real' specialty as soon as possible or switch out after 2-3 years....good luck
