You are thinking in the minor leagues my friend. 150K is a drop in the bucket in what you can make in the Pharma world if you get with the right company. You are comparing 150K for a principle which is equivalent to a Business Unit Head who is probably pulling in 500K+/year plus major options worth millions.

You can't compare a principle to a sales rep as they are not on the same level regarding org charts and pay grades within their respective fields. Not to mention the promotional opportunities are almost nothing for teachers but tons of places to go in pharma. You my friend are the one who needs to get a clue.

The rest of the commercial world knows that Pharma sales is nothing more than a glorified catering service. at least years ago the vast majority of females hired were providing escort services and many even married the doctors they called on.

Even more entertaining is to watch the brand teams act like they are superior to everyone else on the commercial side. Most Rose through the ranks as a result of manipulated sales data, or by pure luck. They then take their false sense of accomplishment to the home office.

No other industry will you see such nonsense.

Pharma sales is a good gig but you must keep it in perspective. First you can't live large put some dough away. Second you gotta network. Third try to get some experience beyond sales rep, light as it is, training or management experience is helpful. Pharma is an incestual industry and pretty toxic. If you can manage it for a few decades you are set, just ask the old timers who laughed all the wall to the bank and retirement.

    Real talk!! Well stated!!
I admit, I lost sight of getting a side hustle for my saved earnings. Kind of got hit hard by the recession and most of the bonuses were used to keep my family afloat when my spouse was laid off. But we are on the right track now and I keep our bills paid down, don't make extravagant choices and save as much as I can. If I can hang for 8-10 more years, I too will laugh to retirement. I do get scared though--preparation is key.

I guess you would consider me an "old timer"... But you are dumber than shit to be in pharma industry these days! Hello???? Do you have a brain? Get a real job. I didn't laugh my way to retirement.... Actually fucking made a difference back in the day... Because we could.. Now you have no chance with the worthless management. You know you don't do shit!... I earned my very substantial retirement. You'll be working at Walmart soon

What else can these morons do?

I have a degree in nursing, but I am going to milk this thing until they write me a close to six figure severance check for my 20 plus years.

You retired for good reason, after several years of working, so why are you asking about giving yourself more work? Why not take up a hobby in stead or start checking off items on your long honey-do list?

While the stability in pharma sucks, the pay is still pretty good compared to most jobs.

There are many things you CAN do after Pharma IF you aren’t a zero. Let’s face it, Pharma isn’t that challenging nor difficult Tho it does carry baggage when looking to change jobs.
