June early July. Retail account managers most are history. Gov and mgd care reps who bring no new contracts and spend there time beating down reps GONE! good bye Field could probably lose 60 reps from pumps and BG. Clinical mgrs already stretched thin

Hopefully when it is over Chris Simms himself will get a fedex and be history. He has ruled with fear and destroyed the culture of co since he took over. he didn't make numbers even with his business plan wasted 3 days in dallas and what did that help us do.

    please go away

Are they exaggerating field sales layoffs or will they really be as massive as everyone thinks?

depends on what you call massive. even if it is the same as november 2012 it will feel massive if it happens to you. the 2011 layoffs was about 51 people total with animas and a few targeted people in hq. it could be anywhere from 10% to 50% depending on how lfs decides to restructure the sales force. medicare is 40% of the business and it could translate into layoff of 40% of bgm sales force or 92 reps

Why is it the reps always have to pay with their jobs for senior mgmt mistakes. Oops lets restructure the sales force because we are clueless and our consulting company we pay millions of dollars to has no clue about this business either. They sell that business plan bs to any co w a checkbook. Its not just CS although his people skills suck. Why does he need 5 RBDs? The company actually made its number when there were three.

My question? Why did it take so long for Lifescan to respond to Medicare since they knew the reimbursement since January 30? Waiting to see what Abbott, Roche and Bayer consultants said first?

Before the July 1 Medicare reimbursement starts. Nobody knows how exactly it will looks when restructure is over. Impact will be brutal probably much bigger than November 2012 and November 2011. Simms will be out after it is over not making his numbers just like Rob Case and those who came before him. Val is not one to suffer fools long, she'll cut her losses on him.

Before Medicare reimbursement for test strip changes July 1. It is being worked on as we waste time on this board instead of talking to a recruiter.

Best post of this thread. Get out and start updating resume now. How many times are we going to go through this?

I would agree about RBD choices @ Lifescan. They have no clue how to manage and direct a sales force. Poor choices to run what was a top company in the industry.

How does Peter fit into all of this? Is the marketing organization blameless? Granted the company knew about the Verio problems in Europe back in December when it happened. In Dallas sr mgmt still gave us Verio goals but didn't put any marketing $$ behind Verio because sr mgmt knew back in Dec 2012 Verio was going off the market. Squeezed one quarter of sales out of Verio. Sleeze balls. If Chris does take the fall for the company missing Q1 and April numbers then there's hope his RBD team will get flushed with him.

Lifescan field sales will be reduced until the operating company can make its contribution to Michael Paul's MDD number that is delivered to Mother JNJ. That is how many times we will go through this.

I was about to bet on July layoffs after sr mgmt beats us up to get Q2 numbers then tosses the field aside and the impact would hit the reps with the longest service and highest salaries. Then I read this post on J&J McNeil problems that have lasted 7 years and realized this entire corporation is the same. Selfserving leaders protecting selfserving leaders. Regular employees outside of management work for J&J at your own risk. If it makes you feel better this is from the J&J McNeil thread
I cannot believe my eyes. After recall after recall I just read this article. Why don't we get a few monkeys from the zoo and see if we can train than better than these bozos at the top. Certainly they have not led by example...still leading by quarterly profits???
    Really........?

Those J&J Recalls Keep On Coming: Tylenol Bottles Yanked From Brazil

    Posted Thu, 05/23/2013 - 6:36am by Ed Silverman0

Despite assorted efforts to get its corporate house in order, Johnson & Johnson simply cannot escape manufacturing problems. The latest escapade has occurred in Brazil, where more than 3.3 million bottles of Tylenol Drops are being recalled because the dripper is apparently malfunctioning and can lead to an overdose.

The active ingredient is acetaminophen, which can cause liver damage, and the J&J notice adds that an overdose can also result in nausea and other gastrointestinal problems. The bottles were made between December 2011 and November 2012, according to a notice issued by the health care giant. We asked J&J for comment and will update you accordingly.

The recall is only the latest in a huge and embarrassing series of such steps by J&J, which earlier this month learned that its Janssen Korea ceo faces criminal charges over manufacturing violations that led to the withdrawal of 1.7 million bottles of Children’s Tylenol. The government also ordered that J&J had to suspend production of several products for varying periods of time (back story).

As we noted recently, there is irony in the timing. Last month, J&J launched its first new corporate image campaign in more than a decade in hopes of restoring consumer confidence in its products after the huge laundry list of recalls – Tylenol; Motrin; Rolaids; Sudafed; Benadryl; syringes; K-Y Jelly; Accuvue contact lenses; hip replacement devices; and the Topamax epilepsy drug, among many others.

Meanwhile, the health care giant is still trying to remediate a key plant in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, where its McNeil Consumer Healthcare unit is headquartered, after the facility contributed to a spate of recalls. J&J (JNJ) consequently signed a consent decree with the FDA.

The campaign is also designed to deflect attention away from ongoing investigations and litigation surrounding a scandal over failure data for its hip replacement devices and marketing practices for promoting its Risperdal antipsychotic. In fact, a $2.2 billion settlement with the US Department of Justice is in the pipeline.

The cumulative effect of all these problems earlier this week prompted J&J to ask its employees to reassess its 70-year-old corporate credo, which stresses the need to meet high quality standards. The health care giant hopes employees will then complete a survey to identify "opportunities for improvement and action" (read more here).

Lifescan was once a great company that people were proud to work for. I've been out of J&J for a long time now, but stopping by to read this really made me sad. Best of luck to all of you.

At least they lowered the targets and Peter sounded sad that the company is screwing up our lives not telling us more about the layoffs.
