With the pending sale to Medtronic, has there been anything definitively said about what is to happen to the Mansfield office and timetables? This is from someone who might be interested in applying to a job in that office. I do not want to get stuck in another situation where i'm cut 5 months in ...

    Thanks!

On a different but related note, how much longer will there be a Covidien forum on Cafepharma?

Many of those jobs in Mansfield will be redundant and cut once the takeover is complete. Probably won't happen in 5 months but likely will in 12-18 months. Proceed with caution!

That is not that bad, especially if presently unemployed. Old pharma/Med devices and the associated job security is dead and has been dead for more than a years now across all departments. 1 to 1.5 years is pretty solid nowadays.

Jobs in HR, Sales Support, research and general administration will all be cut. jobs in product development might stay and probably operations.

More importantly, will Medtronic take over sponsoring all those Boston Sports teams? MDT on the wall at baseball, on the background during Tom Brady post game interviews?

Sad for these folks. Although a lot of those shared svcs jobs were created at the expense of other employees at the operating company level. Somewhat karmic

Not sure how many products were developed in the hallowed halls of Mansfield, but they no doubt know the document change system and inside and out.

When will the chopping season start? How about New Haven and Boulder?

New Haven and Boulder should be fine.

I would expect there to be a "quick chop" just after the deal goes through --- any sort of corporate planning isn't needed any more. I'm guessing there's a bunch of jobs that really ended when the deal was announced, but the people are just collecting checks.

Then there will be a phase-out of jobs after 1 year.

Covidien Peripheral Vascular will also be cut pretty hard, too, wherever those jobs are duplicated.

that would be nice to see... Start with Doug Clark, Steve Coleman, Mark Andrew, a few reps too... HH and GT for starters... Do shit that's illegal and you should ultimately pay for it

I seriously hope they do a serious staff reduction in Mansfield. I am a remote sales rep, and all of my interactions with Mansfield are horrible. The customer service reps are rude, the marketing folk are a joke, and pretty much everyone else is incompetent. Every time I go to Mansfield I am astonished astonished at the amount of people doing nothing.

Start with Doug Clark and Steve Coleman.. Ethics violations in motion... Then go with Mark Andrew... Next, sales side HH and GT

You haven't seen anything yet then. Wait until you get to Minnesota if you want to see lots of people with little to do.

Sometimes it can be hard to notice --- but those people with little to do ARE extremely valuable. You have to look very closely, you might see that they are meeting quota needs for employees.

just wait until you start dealing with Minnesota marketing. Electronic marketing, brochures, product specialists, costs, contracts ---- you will have 7 people to contact for the 1 you would have contacted at Covidien.

Didn't you just prove the previous poster's point?

Boulder welcomes being under the new MDT umbrella and severed eventually from Mansfield.

Mansfield will be closed for sure. Leases are up in 2017 and Medtronic is already planning a datacenter migration. Once the datacenter is no longer in Mansfield there is no reason to renew the lease on those buildings. Adios!
