Welcome to the Medical Sales College Reviews Q&A Board

As you can tell from this site, we have several interested parties in information about the Medical Sales College.

In the past, we have made every effort to refrain from comments on this site. Unfortunately, they only negative information published about the Medical Sales College are in an “anonymous” format. Therefore, rarely do you know the hidden agenda of the poster.

As you can imagine, we have two specific enemies that we compete with. We offer a service in which an employer can hire directly from the college at no-fee. Therefore, this can directly impact recruiters. Additionally, we act as a screening process for the employers. As we have built more than 200 relationships with top companies, we will not suggest an underperforming student for employment. Because of this, it is possible that we could have a disgruntled former student.

We will be more than happy to discuss topics as long as it is in a professional manner.

    Thanks,

We are committed to providing additional information for those interested parties.

The Medical Sales College is approved and regulated by the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Private Occupational School Board.

    http://highered.colorado.gov/dpos/

    Mission Statement – From DPOS

“The Division of Private Occupational Schools (DPOS) is an agency within the Department of Higher Education.

The mission of the Division is to implement the directives of the General assembly, to provide standards for and to foster and improve private occupational schools and their educational services, and to protect the citizens of this state against fraudulent or substandard private occupational schools.”

In order to protect students, all colleges are required to post a surety bond. In the event a facility is unable to fulfill its responsibility, a student would have recourse. The Medical Sales College has provided the required surety bond.

The Medical Sales College was granted approval in 2010. On May 24, 2012, the Medical Sales College received a 3-year extension of its licensure.

    Jobs and Opportunities

We are often asked about the performance of the Medical Sales College. We have seen several postings that contain inaccurate statements as to the placement statistics for our students.

As a licensed college, we are prohibited from deceptive trade or sales practices pursuant to section 12-59-117 of the Colorado Department of Higher Education. All placement statistics published from the Medical Sales College have been verified.

For the years 2011 & 2012, we are pleased to announce that 332 of our graduates have found placement in the field of medical sales. This represents an 85% placement rate based on our overall 390 trained and available candidates.

We invite interested parties to reach out to our former students of the Medical Sales College.

Linkedin – This is the best and most reliable professional networking site. As an interested party, we encourage networking with our former students. Currently, we have 260 of our graduates that have profiles and have received employment post the Medical Sales College training. Although we have 332 placed graduates (2011&2012) in the industry, not everyone has a Linkedin page.

If you have a Linkedin profile, the best way to search is as follows. In the search bar, place MSC or Medical Sales College.

Facebook – Join us on Facebook! This is an opportunity to “converse” with former graduates and see placement activity.

    https://www.facebook.com/medicalsalescollege?fref=ts

YouTube – We have more than 60 videos and 23,000 views that include former graduates, employers and surgeons. Take a look!

We are committed to our students at the Medical Sales College

Since the inception of the Medical Sales College in 2010, we are pleased to report, contrary to what you might read from an “anonymous” post, we have never received a single student complaint.

In the event that a student would have a legitimate complaint, they would have a specific process in which they would follow. Each student upon acceptance into the college receives and signs an enrollment agreement. As required from the State of Colorado Department of Higher Education, each enrollment agreement covers student refund policy, student complaints and complaints of deceptive trade or sales practices. This includes contact information and website address for formalized complaints.

Obviously, if a student felt in any way that they were defrauded, this would be the best course of action for a refund of tuition. As explained earlier, the Medical Sales College submitted a surety bond for financial protection of a student.

If a student had a VALID complaint, obviously the logical resolution would be through reputable sources.

As you can see from the email below, the Medical Sales College has never received a valid complaint:

    From: Georgia Roberts
    Subject: RE: Open Records Request
    Date: April 17, 2013 4:37:43 PM MDT
    To: Jim Rogers
    CC: Candler, Loma, Karla, Viteri

Good afternoon, Mr. Rogers. This is in response to your recent request for information concerning “any VALID complaints” that have been filed with our Division concerning your Medical Sales College (“MSC”), by any MSC student (former or current), since MSC’s approval to operate on December 7, 2010 through current date.

Division records show that although two complaints were filed by individuals on January and February 2011, respectively, both were administratively dismissed as being non-jurisdictional. One was filed anonymously which cannot be accepted under our statute that regulates postsecondary private occupational schools; and the second was filed by an individual who attended a different entity (not Medical Sales College), which at the time of attendance was not an approved school. There have been no other matters filed. Please do not hesitate to contact the Division if you have any questions about our process or require further clarification. Thank you and have a good evening.

    - Georgia

Now in our third year, the Medical Sales College is pleased with our most current 85.09% placement rate and our track record without a single STUDENT complaint since our inception.

At the request for validation along with the suggestion that NO W-2 employer is looking to hire our graduates, we have provided the following validated statistics. Knowing that a response would follow that all of our placements are with 1099 positions or inferior companies, we used only the data from the 5 top orthopedic device companies. Obviously, these would be the most difficult to enter and succeed without former medical device sales experience. Keep in mind, our graduates represent more than 100 different medical device companies.

I encourage any individual wanting more factual information to read the following.

We have several hundred former Medical Sales College graduates available to view, network and connect using LinkedIn as a valuable resource.

Using LinkedIn and the available search feature, through placing Medical Sales College as the education or in keyword, add the company below to see the results.

    On LinkedIn

    22 MSC Graduates Currently Employed
1 MSC Graduate, no longer representing Smith & Nephew but is still in medical sales

    Summary:

You can find 73 MSC Graduates that are currently employed on LinkedIn representing the most prestigious device companies.

You can find 15 MSC Graduates employed in this group but now have moved on with another position/company in medical sales.

You can find 4 MSC Graduates employed in this group but now have moved on outside of medical sales.

Based on this information, since the inception of the college in December of 2010, 92 of our graduates have profiles on LinkedIn representing this distinguished group of companies. This spans over three years. 4 of the 92 placements are out of the industry. This reflects an annualized turnover rate of MSC employed graduates at 1.4% annually based on three years. This number is significantly less than those that enter without the training of the Medical Sales College.

    Kim,

I know a few military veterans that attended your college and post training, had great success entering medical sales. As an approved college with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, I believe they used their Chapter 33 benefits for training. I have expired my Chapter 33 but have VRAP available. Can I use VRAP?

I want to apply and attend as soon as possible.

    Thanks,

    Kara

    From a recruiters perspective!

When a recruiter receives a resume, all candidates fall into one of the following six groups.

    1) Experienced reps that are performing at a high level in the industry
    2) Experienced reps that are NOT performing at a high level in the industry
    3) Experienced reps that are NOT performing at a high level and NOW out of the industry
    4) Non-experienced reps that are performing at a high level outside of the industry
    5) Non-experienced reps that are NOT performing at a high level outside the industry
    6) Non–experienced no sales at all

    1) Experienced medical sales reps that are performing at a high level in the industry

    - They are not applying for jobs
    - They would network with established connections within the industry
    - Recruiters job to search them out
    - They would not take an entry-level position or underperforming vacated position (most openings)

    2) Experienced medical sales reps that are NOT performing at a high level in the industry

    - No thank you!

    3) Experienced medical sales reps that are NOT performing at a high level and NOW out of the industry

    - No thank you!

    4) Non-experienced reps that are performing at a high level outside of the industry

    - Very interested in this candidate

    5) Non-experienced reps that are NOT performing at a high level outside the industry

    - No thank you!

    6) Non–experienced no sales at all

    - Only in entry-level positions where required from employing customers

As a recruiter, this is the process utilized to identify the best candidate.

Experienced medical sales representatives with relevant experience to the job applied will always receive the most consideration for the position. First and foremost, the employer wants a successful track record along with established relationships. Due to non-competes / non-solicit agreements, this candidate is hard to locate. If located, they have a lot at risk because experience has shown that not all of the relationships will move with you. The candidate is aware of this, as well, the employer.

Experienced medical sales representatives without relevant experience to the job applied. This candidate will be in consideration as long as their respective track record has shown success. Most of my employers are looking for the top 10% in this group.

Non-experienced medical sales representatives that have performed in their current position. We receive a large number of resumes per open position that will fit into this group. The challenge for this candidate is how to differentiate yourself from the other applying candidates. This is where we have seen great success using the graduates of the Medical Sales College. In reading that some companies are now sending and paying for candidates to attend as condition of employment, validates the quality and demand for the medical sales education.

    Hope this helps!

From your recruiter perspective, are there any companies out there that would hire a (Non-experienced reps that are performing at a high level outside of the industry) that have sales experience, an associates degree and the certificate from MSC but does not have a bachelors degree?

Stay away! They will take all of your money and not make an effort to place you with a job. They are good at sales; hence, the reason of me signing up. Most of my graduating class has failed to get a job.

Stay away is right. If you want to get into Medical Device sales, talk to a recruiter or 10. They will hardly touch any of the MSC students. Do you have sales experience from a B2B company? Go get the experience and make 125% of your quotas. Do not spend any money at this school.
