ICER’s Final Report on Peanut Allergy Treatments: Clinical Evidence Does Not Yet Demonstrate That Long-Term Benefits of Desensitization Outweigh Short-Term Risks - ICER “Currently, there are no FDA-approved treatments for patients with peanut allergy, and the potential for accidental exposure to peanuts can create tremendous anxiety for patients and their caregivers,” said David Rind, MD, ICER’s Chief Medical Officer. “However, while Viaskin Peanut, AR101, and OIT have all been shown to desensitize patients to the allergen, each one of these approaches is also associated with increased allergic reactions and use of epinephrine. Caregivers and patients must remain vigilant about avoiding peanuts even while on desensitization therapy, and future clinical trials will need to demonstrate whether long-term benefits of these approaches outweigh their short-term risks.”
Wrong, these therapies are doing exactly what they are intended to do, help desensitize patients to minimize the risk of accidental exposure resulting in life threatening reactions. Patients will absolutely still have to be vigilant about protecting themselves, but an accidental exposure not resulting in death because of desensitization is a big win. The only thing better is gene therapy that would cure patients and allow them to eat peanuts and costs millions of dollars. There are intelligent and responsible conversations going on countering the ICER report. At the AAAAI meetings allergists have jam packed all sessions to learn more about the therapy. Get on board, this therapy is step in the right direction and better than the DBVT patch.
I call on allergists now in a major allergy center and the experts are not all in agreement that this therapy is something they will jump on board with right out of the gates.
EXACTLY - there are some who are ready and many that are NOT ready and some will never be ready or want to. You will have to change your clinical operations to make this therapy work and some will not have the staff, patience or interest.
It is hard to gauge whether this is a good opportunity or not. Always is with a startup. There are positives to this therapy, but also many negatives...and strong ones at that. I'd be leaving my current employer for this, and I'm teetering back and forth as whether I want to join or not.
Not yet, but I have had the hiring manager keeping me "warm" for months, which is great, but the longer this has gone on, the more I see that this company doesn't have it together. I think those that will come on board are most likely people who are currently unemployed, trying to shift into account management from account sales or in a bad situation with their current job. That isn't my situation. I thought this looked like a great opportunity but there are tons of red flags.
I have not heard about panel interviews yet. Maybe I'm out of the mix. No communication received one way or other.
Well aren’t you special?! Don’t be such a dumb bunny! Get an offer and then make the decision after 9/13 if it’s a positive ad comm. If it’s not, then by all means, stay at your current comfortable gig. Give yourself an option. IMO it’s an exciting opportunity to do something completely different and novel in a small start-up. However, if you’re not a entrepreneurial rock star, it’s probably not going to end well so don’t even bother. This isn’t rocket science.
You are clearly not a good match for this position or company if these are your assumptions. I'd stay where you are or go somewhere else but not with Aimmune. Do yourself & the company a favor. I don't mean this in a mean way... I'm just saying if this is how you view the opportunity then stay real to yourself & don't waste your time.
GO F urself ! The hiring manager is one big liar!!! This company is a mirage, a f-ing s-hole !! I am way too his for this place and glad I got a tremendous offer at a real company !
some of this worries me a little- how did these people make it past the initial screens? clearly butthurt they didn't get past the hiring manager screens, but come on...
LMAO !!! Are you for real? The hiring screens were very ineffective and really a joke ! Unfortunately many morons made it through.
You seriously need to relax! If you've got that amazing offer then go celebrate that and stop raging about this "sh**hole" company. Really.... move on.
