Jodar the Verbal Sewage Jackoff has caused irreparable harm to the commercial prospects of our vaccines. He was incomprehensibly protected by Susan Silbermann who also knew nothing about vaccine development. Now that Silbermann is gone, Jodar *MUST* go.

A recent post on CP and one of the best I've seen in awhile:

Just sent out my resignation letter tonight.

Young people, do yourself a favor and just leave this industry, and all medical sales behind. Companies today don't have integrity. The insurance companies, not the doctors, control the game. So, find something you love to do, and don't tell me it is sales. Sales is just not cutting it anymore. The disrespect I have observed over the years has been bad, but the last 5 years have just been off the charts bad. Get back your heart and and step into a better life by not focusing so much on making money, but rather finding employment with positive people that care. Getting these annual assessment and field ride evaluations that do nothing but make you a slave are not good for your mental health. Best to all, and I will see you in these offices some day, in my shorts and golf shirt, wishing that you find something that is more respectful and honest to do with your life. I missed the boat and didn't find out until later in life how much of a lie this corporate sales stuff really was. For that, I am a bit ashamed, but I have recovered from that guilt, because I didn't know better. Those that read this and understand it will thank me. The rest of you have much more introspection to do.

It took me about a month to see this. I don't base my happiness on my job. Still here banking the $. You’re a slave anywhere you work. Been in many industries and jobs in my life. It's all the same. It’s your own fault if you drink the kool-aid.

Gotta love how someone who only worked in pharma sales tells all of us how much better it is elsewhere!
He should keep his personal regrets to himself. It’s also become so cliche' and tiresome.

Sounds like you drank the Kool-Aid. There are plenty of places to work w/ nice people that don't have the "Needs to Improve" Manager Stick every time they see you. There are plenty of places that are rewarding, fulfilling and Non-child treating atmospheres. Work is Work, but it dosen't have to mean "Slave" that's your problem. Which is probably a mental problem that you have accepted that it's fine to be treated that way. Most people w/ self respect will not tolerate it. Look around the region..how many Masters are really there? Nothing like in the past. Look around your district, PFE Conveniently hired people in their 50's to keep the numbers up but those hires have less than 5 years experience. The people w/ Self respect are long gone. Only thing left are individuals like you that believe an exchange for what you think is more money a "Needs to Improve" DM is allowed to treat you like a child at least once a month it not more.

Wrong, Tony Robbins wannabe. Vaccines has so many reps with over 15 yrs it's amazing. So many are over 50 with multiple awards it's scary.

You were a slave, you just won't admit it. Damn, you only ever worked as a pharma rep. You know jack shit about anything else in the world.

Enjoy your new freedom from any managers/masters. I dare you to find another job in any other field, give it 6 months and tell me you're not a slave. It’s the nature of all employment. Also, maybe get some help for your ptsd from Needs Improvement managers.

You named one small division and 15 years dosen't get you to "Masters" necessarily. Thank you for proving my point. PFE has 90K employees maybe take a pole on who likes to be labeled a "Slave" vs Treated like an adult. You've just accepted your fate it's called Stockholm Syndrome.

It's "poll" and "doesn't". You just think you have to win every argument no matter how off-track you get. Nobody proved your point. Vaccines practically carries this company profit wise. It’s not a small division. You have no idea what you're talking about.

So what. You regret being a slave. My point is that you are no matter where you work. Treated like an adult or not, you are a slave.

Why don't you get off this forum. Go to NYC and sit down with Ian and whine to him about the jerks/assholes you worked for and give him solutions, so none of us feel like slaves here. Do something or just shut the fuck up! Have a nice retirement.

Dropping the "f" bomb, does that make you feel big on an anonymous website? Work is work, get it? Slave is an entirely different context. Do you go around calling everyone "retarded" too? Start "polling" people, no one wants to be called a "slave" except you since you have accepted your fate in your subconscious. Slave.

I was never a slave, I had nice job it was good work at face value. There were years I loved it and years I hated it depending on who the DM/RM was but mark my word I was never a "slave".

And, I can fix this Industry quickly and return it to what it once was but it would first take firing 90% of middle management and "actually" changing the culture which as you know is lip service.

A well treated retarded slave is still a slave.

Or maybe an idiot indentured servant instead would be politically correct for you?

Euphemize all you want. Your boss said jump, you said how high.....after pulling your nose out of his ass.

Merriam-Webster SLAVE definition...... #2: "one that is completely subservient to a dominating influence"; #4: "Drudge, Toiler"

First and forefront the culture needs to change at all these companies and to do that all middle management needs to be replaced w/ NON-PHARMA managers. VPs need to change course and rid the front line issue of middle management. Hire people that have never worked in Pharma before. Make the culture "real" instead of LIP SERVICE as it currently is. Every time they hire an experienced Pharma Manager the cycle continues. VPS need to communicate that Pharma has changed and that Pharma "partners" w/ office instead of trying to sell them on every call. Next, The job needs to be re-titled to Customer Service Representative. Let's face it, it's not sales and even more so now w/ all the managed care and group practices that need to be navigated. Third, make the daily matrix a "stop" instead of telling the Rep that they "NEED" to see an "MD" to make it a legit call. This is what is making everyday a day of lies. Have the CSR make 8-12 Stops and check in w/ offices to see if samples are needed, answer questions, do a lunch here and there and be the face of the company as a partner instead of trying to 'ram' a dog drug down an MDs office. Have the rep make it a legit "total office" call. Talk to RN, MD, LPN, Office Manager and give the Rep Credit for the STOP! MD's are smart enough to know what works and what dosen't. But what dosen't work is some 25-30 year old girl or guy trying to tell an MD w/ 12 years of advanced education that they should use their drug becasue of 1 or 2 crappy studies. Next work w/'s, Companies need to stop the Manager baby sitting, period. DM need to have 20-25 Representatives and a work w/ should be 1 per quarter and for experienced rep 2 per year and maybe that's just a lunch to go over some items. Finally the Salary needs to come down to an entry level customer service Rep. 50K to start, no more 100-125K salaries for let's face it driving around lying all day.

Wow, great insight. Not sure about the management part. There are managers in pharma that “ get it”. It few and far between and most with a lack of courage to push for change. Totally agree about making stops, total office call, record literature drops. If you only have Eucrisa to sample there will be few sample drops. If we could have Viagra samples,to leave we could, get in front of the docs all day long, lol. If you only report legit calls under the current definition of a call you are make 5-6 calls a day. If you report honestly you get in trouble because your peers are liars.

So off the mark, Pharma Sales reps ae a thing of the past...As pharma looks to cut costs in the age of likely price controls, this is an easy place to start...everything is going Digital, reps calling on Dr.s is old school...Pharma can more effectively and efficiently get to Dr.s via digital media, it started yeas ago and will accelerate

Good God you guys are naive. Looks, this is a business and its always been a business. Drugs are just the vehicle through which the money is made, but is always about the dollars. Management has tried since the beginning of time to find a cheaper, more effective way to increase sales other than sales reps. They just haven't found it. DTC advertising, fax blasts, mailings, journal advertising, digitally targeting online selling, speaker events, contract reps, inside sales, digital reps, etc. They will keep trying.

But at the end of the day, nothing moves the NRx needle like a person, properly incentivized, who get eye ball to eye ball with a high potential target and makes a rational reason -again and again and again.

It might hurt your feelings, but its the truth.
