Pharma Sales or Barber?

Barber: 40k/year, no paperwork, come and go as you please, cash business, no downsizing.

Pharma Sales: 80k/year, paperwork, toxic environment, micromanaged, downsized every 1-2 years, kicked out at 50, unless you are in management and brown nose like a woman.

Tough one. but, I think pharma has a small edge, because barber is tough on the back and shoulders.

 

If you are only making $80k a year in pharma, can only hold your job for 1 to 2 years and still a rep at 50, feel like you have to brown nose,;then you are a low performer and deserved to be kicked out. In fact, you are probably too stupid to be a barber as well. You better stick to something like retail sales or fast food.

 

That's half the industry!

Now, that I am outside of the industry and in regional management, I will never look at a pharmaceutical rep....because there is no "steak in the sizzle"....most of you are all appearance with little to no business acumen.

 

No, it is just the low level performers like you. Typical sour grapes from someone kicked out of the pharma business.

Everyone, except you, knows that pharma. sales reps are the laughingstock of the selling world.

 

How dare you even call pharmaceutical sales, a selling job?

We know its a marketing jobs for ex-strippers and jocks that drank a lot of beer in college.

 

Don't forget those that were not smart enough to get into med school or law school either.

 

If you were to have a profile for pharmaceutical reps, it would look like this:

Male. 4 year degree from state school. 2.5 GPA. Frat member. Can't sell their way out of a brown paper bag.

Female. 4 year degree from state school. 2.75 GPA. Cheerleader. Can't sell their way out of a brown paper bag.

As a business owner, I don't hire these types for the most obvious reason: they are not smart and cannot think for themselves. I need people with critical thinking skills. I hate to sound mean, but your industry is a joke.

 

Looks like the mental boy flipped out again yesterday and had to fire off four posts in a row to deal with his mental issues.

So, what have we learned girls and boys? Work hard and do a good job, so that you don't get tossed out of your high paying job (like mental boy) and don't have to take a low level/low pay job (like mental boy), that could potentially cause you to suffer from a mental breakdown (like mental boy).

Go read something of value (a book without pictures is a start).

Hi mental boy. Still hanging around the pharma board, despite the fact you are no longer in pharma (after getting tossed out). That alone should tell you that you have a problem. Making up your little stories on here should be your second clue that you have a problem. I guess when you are as mentally screwed up as you are, it can be hard to see how bad your condition really is. My guess is another event has come up to trigger your latest slug of posts. Perhaps it is the bankruptcy of Radio Shack that has you bummed. Another one of you targeted potential employers will no longer be around. Don't worry. I have heard that the standards set for getting a job in the mall food court are really not that hard. Perhaps you should look in that direction.

Meanwhile, you can entertain yourself with more of your mindless tv shows.
