Now that you've all had a chance to vent and go completely off topic....can anyone answer the original question on comp for this position?

Seems to be doing very well for himself with his job and being an author of a book on Amazon. Good for him

Tom G writing a children's book teaching virtues and character - hysterical! I don't think it is hard to get a book on Amazon. It doesn't mean anyone will buy it.

Be prepared to instruct your subordinates on how to carry out criminal activity and not get caught this time and you'll do well.

The guy in LA who gets all is business in LA by greasing the hands of his surgeons is Chris Smith. Get your facts correct. Most unethical distributorship out there. Once again Orthofix pays no attention to him just like they did with the Blackstone distributors. They all will get caught again!

Orthofix needs to rid of distributors and go Direct.

It's the only way to sort out this mess of rouge distributors. Everyone selling medical devices needs to be a direct employee.

    Enough of the madness.

So says the distributor rep who thinks he's getting a raw deal. What exactly is a "rouge" distributor? Maybe its the color red the distributor's face turns when management meets some of the so called sales reps making a living off of distributor's relationships and bitching about needing more money. Rouge is makeup, rogue is what you meant. How about this...go sell something and quit whining. Go to work early and go home late every day and become the expert in your product portfolio. Create a value for yourself in the eye of your distributors customers and build a producing territory. If you are doing that you will be very successful. Maybe spend less time reading all the bullshit on this board and more time in the field. This business owes you nothing and if you are not creating relationships with your customers on a consistent business you are wasting your time.

Obviously a distributor who doesn't want to give his reps a fair deal. Most of the distributor 1099 reps sell other products on the side so Orthofix loses.

Perhaps you should be a leader and create an environment for success.

My point exactly. "Perhaps you should be a leader and create an environment for success." Look in the mirror, you're the weakest link. Crying and posting on this POS message board after midnight. Guess what? Nobody cares. Boo hoo, your distributor hasn't created a successful environment for you, that's why you're sales are pitiful. Give me a break and grow up. Hate to tell you but until you develop a solid work ethic and become an integral part of your customers patient care team, you are wasting your time in this industry. Bottom line, the successful distributor rep has the ability to earn more, not be micromanaged and build a diversified portfolio, but you need to be fiscally responsible and take care of your taxes on time. The direct rep will make a lower commission rate and be subject to never ending micromanagement, but will have a modest benefit package and will be free from the more involved financial responsibility of a distributor rep. But here's the rub, sport. Without sales, the model you choose doesn't matter. If you are unhappy working for your distributor, leave. He or she probably is equally unhappy with your crappy sales and you will not be missed.

Agreed, what's your point and how does it pertain to the previous post? Consultants have always been and are currently an integral part of the healthcare industry. So many whiners out there, can anybody just sell anymore?

Sounds like someone is a hater. Smith gets the job done while most of you wake up late and don't leave the driveway.

Whichever way he gets it done he is still doing the deal. Can you say the same?

You are exactly right, 95% of the trauma sales force is a huge joke. Coincidentally, 95% of the trauma product portfolio is also a joke.
