Excuse the above poster, he is being checked out for libel. He has a chip on his shoulder after being fired.

here's the skinny from an insider.

The person answering all the positive responses is telling the truth. However, it's probably a manager that is doing a great PR job. They are worried with creeping competition from 4 companies. Preparing for a real uphill battle.

The biologics team is different than the respiratory team. Different manager. So although GSK is experts with respiratory handheld devices, they are new to biologics. There are many obstacles and kinks making the process frustrating.

The respiratory reps have been loyal and stuck around through patient first. They believe that their loyalty will pay off through promotions into specialty teams, like respiratory biologics, hiv and vaccines.

However, it seems that they are not really being looked at for this respiratory biologics expansion. Our managers have been answering their questions and encouraging them to apply. However, they also are aggressively recruiting externally.
I know many people who have been called by some managers.

Now, it's going to be a big problem when all these reps, who have endured the hard times, get overlooked for external candidates.

Maybe that's not an a big deal to most. However, when Advair generic competition comes knocking and they end up getting laid off, then it will affect the remaining employees' morale.

So although the current respiratory leadership doesn't want to "lose" more good reps to specialty, they are putting these same reps at risk down the road.

Now the question of how much GSK pays has been asked. But it's highly unlikely they will pay over $150k. There are reps who have been here for decades and are just breaking through 120k or a little above. So the fairness factor of bringing higher paid external candidates also will affect morale. The salaries will be leaked and posted and we'll know what the newly hired team gets compared to the current folks.

So how do we get measured and incentivized. Well, there's an upside to tenure. You get pegged as a high performer and get to stay there. So you get the high visibility, above and beyond, positions. So history repeats itself semester after semester.
So you'd be competing against our established team that knows all the key decision makers that "vote" on our rating (incentive). Fairness depends on your point-of-view. After all, we've paid our dues. So based on individual incentives, don't expect your teammate to help you look good. You are on your own. Remember, it's not about sales, but doing the horse and pony show. It's a broken system and we've become experts at playing the game. So if a manager promises you the elusive 200% or 130% of payout, that's where they are not really transparent. We've got those high ratings on lockdown. They also want to keep us "experts" happy.

However, if you are good at appearing to be working and get along with your boss, then you are pretty much guaranteed 100% payout. So join the team with a clear understanding of expectations.

What you do is based on your own goals?

Good luck to the internal and external candidates!

    Any comments?

Did the same team that named Nucala, also name the new HIV drug Jucala?

They should have been named Nocala and Jokecala.

This team is an easy one, the drug itself is highly specialized and you almost have to use it when it comes to this point.

It’s one of the better teams to be on, Vaccines would be the other. Some of the stuff you read on this board isn’t always applied to these two teams. You’ll have some, but it’s not the crap show other teams are.

    - You’ll have easy days, as I said people will almost have to use this if they are that sympathetic.

    - You’ll be consider highly special, this team acts like Gods at sales meetings.

    - You won’t be dealing with too much BS, these specialized teams stick together typically.

-Rhe space to do the job will be provided, won’t be tripping over each other like we currently are.......

I’d take this one, you should be able to move into a nice house after you get this role.

Gee, I thought we all were equal. If this guy was selling Fords, he would bad mouth BMW's . If he was selling Pepsi, he would bad mouth Coke, etc etc. We are all the same and treated the same. Forgive the bragging fellow. We are a good company.

Posts #22 and #26. Your thoughtful, well written posts are much appreciated. It takes time to provide such input, and it is one of many things which separate you from the relentless and lazy trolls. Thank you.

I really wouldn't believe any mature adult who believes that a worldwide company pays a person the watch and comment on a fun site such as this ! There may be mental challenges.

I’m not going to dignify much of the content of this post by commenting. But in regards to internal v external candidates: hiring managers are looking at both. Qualified internal candidates will most likely be offered positions. However, many high quality people have already left for Biologics, vaccines, etc....so some areas may have a talent pool that isn’t very deep. The reps are very happy in this division. It’s well run, a lot of resources devoted to it, more talented people gravitate towards it.....yet some growing pains here and there since it’s our first entry into Biologics. But so far this team hitting or exceeding sales targets

The same person as in another post, is saying that you are an idiot, and low class if you are not in the vaccine division. So sad and so wrong.

I am qualified for this position, had an internal reference and did not even get an interview. I just received the “sorry no thanks interview.” What in the world are they wanting with this position? Are they posting for external just to check the box?
