Would someone please tell me if Roche offers a match to your 401k contributions, and what the match is? Also, how long to vest?
    Thank You.

They match 50% of the first 6% for the first 3 years. At 3 years they match 75% and at 5 years you are vested.

No improvements to plan since the mid-90s. No innovation in products or benefits. Consistency--goot love Roche's consistency.

Genentech here, is there any chance we will get a pension, what about the employees that have been here for 10 years? That is what some over here are waiting for.

After Roche bought out Disetronic in 2003, only beginning in 2009 do employees have any money credited into their pension account, and only for the years since Disetronic was part of Roche. You will probably be able to join in at zero level (no credit for the years you worked at Genentech prior to the acquisition) after a couple of years of the bureaucracy of the Swiss being pressured into it. What you earned before joining Roche is strictly between you and Genentech basically, no rollover years.

Roche has one of the worst benefit plans in the industry. Crappy health care, crappy retirement, unreasonable vesting timelines, horrible - horrible benefits.

George A should be ashamed of how he let the benefits slide.

$900 deductible and 20% co-pay. Roche benefits are crap!

The traditional pension plan at Roche is no longer offered to employees joining Roche after April 07. Instead Roche has a defined contribution acct in which they contribute a certain percentage of your salary into a saving acct that you then manage yourself (like a 2nd 401K plan). Thos joining Roche before April 07 will still be in the traditional pension plan.

If Roche extends the pension plan to Genentech employees it will be the new version (defined contribution) plan I described that you would get not the traditional pension plan old timers get. Still better than just a straight 401K.

ROCHE HAS ONE OF THE BEST OVERALL BENEFIT PLANS IN THE INDUSTRY, CONSISTENTLY CONSIDERED BY MANY LABOR ADVOCACY PROFESSIONALS TO BE AMONG THE MOST INNOVATIVE AND GENEROUS IN THE WORLD, THE MAJOR CAVEAT TO THIS LARGESSE IS THAT YOU MUST BE A SENIOR EMPLOYEE TO BENEFIT THE MOST, ROCHE HONOURS AND CELEBRATES ITS MOST SENIOR AND DEDICATED EMPLOYEES, THOSE WHO'S SWEAT EQUITY HAS MADE ROCHE THE INTERNATIONAL POWERHOUSE THAT IT IS TODAY. THIS IS AN ATTRIBUTE THAT WE CAN ALL BE PROUD OF !!

Firstly, lose the ALL-caps, asshole. Secondly, Fuck you.
Thirdly, Roche is treating some if its most dedicated and productive long term employees like TRASH. I've seen it time and time again in the past few months. People who have made a huge difference in moving this company forward losing their jobs to lesser qualified Genentech employees. Its the high level loser management that needs to be gotten rid of, yet they are making many of these baseless decisions and getting rid of productive middle management who has put in all of that sweat equity. And Human Resources is protecting its ass and the company by making sure it is a "fair and equitable practice".
It is a farce, a sham, and ROCHE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF ITSELF!!!! (and that is a sentence that deserves all-caps).

YOUR RETALIATION INDICATES LACK OF INFORMED OPINION, YOU OPINE AND RAIL AGAINST AN HR DEPT. THAT WORKS HARD TO CELEBRATE AND REWARD ITS WORKFORCE AND CONTINUES IN A MAGNANIMOUS FASHION TO FURTHER ROCHES REPUTATION AS THE WORK PLACE OF CHOICE. ITS CORPORATE CULTURE CONTINUES TO ENCOURAGE AN ATMOSPHERE OF RECIPROCAL LOYALTY. TO ALL INCOMING DNA PEOPLE : A HEARTY WELCOME AND CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR ENTRY INTO A PRIZED AND HONOURED WORKPLACE. YOUR EFFORTS WILL CERTAINLY BE FETED AND YOUR HEADS HELD HIGH AS OUR COMBINED GREATNESS CATAPAULTS THIS FINE ORGANIZATION INTO THIS MILLENIUMS ESTEEMED GENRE OF MUNIFICENCE.

Guys....has it ever occured to you that despite this b***s*** your board does get visited for a "peek" into the other side of pharma? Moreover, the 401K is a controversial issue almost across the board on pharma, so maybe its the implementation that needs a rethink overall!

I would rather have Genentechs 401K instead of Roche's, Genentech's is awesome!

    Hi,
I have a customer who's wife passed and she worked for Roche about 20 years ago. They never updated mailing info and have not received a statement in a long time, so we are trying to track that account down for him. He said Merrill Lynch was the plan provider at the time. Is that still the case, and if so is there phone number that you might be able to post for me. I've tried navigating through Merrill, but they are too big for their own good to get help. If Merrill is not running the plan still, the new provider info would be much appreciated.

Also, it looks like the possibility of a pension plan as well, any contact info would be appreciated on that as well.
