Working in the Hillsboro Oregon Genentech site means suffering through 4 years of forced overtime and managers and supes that seem to have sprung from cartoonist inkwells.
The worst of the useless leaders, supes and managers have all pooled here like the Gen-cestuous blubber that they are, rejected spittle from SSF. Not one genuine word comes from their lips, just empty buzz phrases such as "Embrace the Error" and "cultivate positivity" Worst work environment possible, broken promise after broken promise and endless prattle about the once proud and mighty SSF.
It was hard to imagine a more corrosive work place..and then Roche dug its evil claws in.

 

As stated above, the worst are the Young suck-ups, especially in the East.

All things considered, a sense of normalcy has been evident for almost a year at HTO...normal for an asylum of ego maniacs anyway!
The sense of panic and frantic "off with his head" drama seems to have subsided somewhat.

That being said, several well respected managerial and supervisor level veterans have been ushered quietly (10 yr+veterans with not even a token sheet cake) out this year, most of them were solid people we depended on in a clinch. At the same time, at least 1 very well known comically tragic version of a supervisor was given a pass and reassigned to another dept as a regular tech. Those that suffered under his Capt. Queeg brand of non leadership laugh at and with the poor folks that now have to baby sit him.

Difficult to tell if they are aiming to thin the well/overpaid herd in lieu of rookies or actually punishing people for being capable and respected. Either way, sentencing and execution from the top of HTO is swift and somewhat nonsensical considering the incredible talent they have given the boot recently balanced with well documented and despised fools they have retained and given quarter to.

Meanwhile, huge, phony smiles all around the plant as we enter yet another year (the 4th or 5th ?) without a fully functioning filling facility. Cause for alarm you say? Oh no! quite the opposite! celebrate our "window for improvement" wont you?
