Pharma in NJ, California (Allergan), Tampa, and Rochester. Valeant will consolidate and completely close down the operations in at least one of these facilities. The case for keeping Rochester Pharma is really weak. If you have not sent out your resume yet you better get going.
Read Pearson's letter to Allergan CEO Target is to save $2.7 BILLION (yes - thats billions ladies and gentlemen) in synergies after amalgamation of Valeant and Allergan, 80% of it in 6 months. He also says Allergan early stage R&D has been largely unproductive for the last 16 years. If you are early stage R&D - Take your job, put your head between your legs and kiss your aXX goodbye if the sale goes through.
Probably 50% of Regulatory, R&D in Rochester is Pharma. You are correct that the manufacturing is contact lenses. Not sure why Pharma people are still based in Rochester.
