Anyone else being forced to participate in the new team concept. This is not a good trend

Just found out that our area is going to teams in 2018! This is how they plan to get rid of the senior reps and save $$

This is the new trend in the industry and not unique to just Stryker. ZB has been doing it for years and Depuy has areas around the country that work as teams. The concept is solid but the problem is that the guys who have years in the business and who have the relationships are asked to fund the junior guys who don’t know anything and only have their hands out!

And then after funding the new guys for a while, the company messes with commissions and forces the senior guys out, and the juniors are happy with the lower commission, as it beats their ASR guarantee. They burn out after 3 years, and another newbie is waiting in the wings. Just try and take biz with you, because after the junior rep learns the accounts and ropes, docs are OK with the change, unless they are totally dedicated to the senior guy (which doesn’t occur often). Saw this at Smith and FU and fell victim to it also. Didn’t help that the guy they forced me to join with is a lying backstabber either!

When the very top of the organisation doesn't function as a team, hard to think the local sales teams can

The new direction of the sales organization is disappointing! Looks like a great time to move on and make some money if you’ve got the chance and relationships.

Our area has actually created teams for the last few years. We have a large territory with 3 senior reps. While total incomes may be lowered by the split (which is percentage based on accounts/business etc.) we have seen an incremental increase in sales and income as we have gone from 2 person team to 3. Depending on how big the territories combining the initial hit may not be as big as expected. Not to mention it has created a much better work/life balance and the ability to split weekend call.

I can certainly understand a senior rep with a large territory not wanting to take the hit in income by being forced to take on a partner. But if you get to partner with someone who is willing to work and sell it can be mutually beneficial. Just my 2 cents

Things are changing and not for the better. Socialism just doesn’t work. Taking from the haves and distributing to the have nots has always caused problems and it’ll be no different here! Watch and see

Our manager just informed us that we are moving to teams. No discussion, no dialogue, and no chance to remain independent. This is just the way it is. Get out now

Change is the only constant. Sell, grow and keep making $$$. If you think you have a better opportunity somewhere else good luck. No other company has the tech or implants that Stryker has. I have been here a long time and most people that leave end up regretting it. Mako, pressfit knees, cones and one of the best benefits plans available. Take a deep breath...it's going to be ok....

In the last 7 years, I have noticed a major shift in the hiring profile and culture at Stryker. The jokes of meatheads is still true but how much longer will it be accepted? The days of juiced up jocks is slowly coming to an end with more women being hired. Personally I think it is a good thing so do not take this the wrong way. I'm just pointing out that it should not be hard to see how different sales meetings are now compared to 5 years ago. Look around at your NSM's. I never played sports and am a frail person easily bruised. The argument is this could only be my division but I don't think so. Stryker is on an acquisition spree and these companies bring in their people and Stryker is hiring much different today. Slam me all you want. I bet the meatheads will. It
is true though. I can only dream of being a jock.

Will the sales teams be eligible for group discounts on HGH, lap dances and OR scrubs?

Teams are not working out! This experiment just causes jealousy with the junior guys making nowhere near what the senior guys make for the same work!

    No other options:

    Stryker - team structure
Synthes - team structure with quintiles reps
S&N - teams structure. Commish plan reduced. Quota attainment bonus's
Zimmer/Biomet - who knows. Place is a dumpster fire

It's definitely not as good as it was 10 years ago....and never will be

Teams do not work! Socialism never works...taking money from someone and giving it to someone else is a bad idea!
