SB-you are incorrect about VTP qualifications. It's the same as last time .... at least five years of service and service plus age add up to 55. 65 is too high ... there are not enough people who qualify.

A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of (med) raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, (te)and the third is full of lions that haven’t eaten in 3 years. (chy.com)Which room is safest for him?

Obviously lions are dead. Choose that room. (And put this together)

What about corporate functions, not related to R&D or sales (finance, HR, payroll, procurement, etc). There are rumors about a possible relocation out of TO. Do you have any insight?

Of course there are not enough people! Why do you think they set it so high?
It's a numbers game...they know exactly how many people qualify for 55/10. Do you think they care if you qualify or not? RIF is cheaper.

No need to prove yourself to anyone! Just please keep doing what you are doing! You know who you are...and that is all that matters..We appreciate your insight.

It's not 55/10, it's 55 total. RIF gets the same package, they just want as many people to go on their own as possible.

It's age + time in service >= to 55. Man, I can't believe you actually went to college and were able to obtain a job here!

Here is the Quote from the 2007 email. It is just a few pages up.

"Who is eligible for the VTP?

To be eligible for the VTP, a staff member must:
    • Have at least 5 years of service as of November 16, 2007
    • Have a total of 55 “points” when years of service and age are added together
    • Be currently assigned to a regular work location in the United States (not including Puerto Rico)
    • Be in levels 1 through 8 (i.e., Executive Director or below)

Due to specific business needs, the following staff members are not eligible for the VTP, even if they meet the points and other criteria. All staff in these groups will be exempt from any involuntary reduction in force in 2007.
    • All staff eligible for the Sales Incentive Compensation Program
    • Levels 5 and above in the Regional Medical Liaisons Organization
    • Law Department
    • Corporate Compliance Department
    • Expatriates "

Hey, SB!!! In addition to the 55 plus 10 proposal of 2014 for VTP...do you know if they are still considering the 50 plus 15 as well! Thanks! And additional thanks for keeping us up to date..

It is in fact a total of 55, between age and years, so 45 year old with 10 years of service hits 55 and is eligible, not all departments will be offered and not all levels will be offered and it's expected to be like -07. All of the changes have been approved by CEO and USCO business, there is VP TO onsite meeting week after next to update and review details, timing and roles. Commercial OBU and BCBU re-orgs already in progress and INBU leadership cuts are largely done, massive reductions in R&D and Ops, larger than first reported, good luck as this is likely final post, - SB
