    SwiveLock® SP Anchor Product Alert

You will be receiving a message from Field Logistics Services (FLS) requesting the return of certain lots of SwiveLock SP anchors. The titanium eyelet was recently redesigned in response to a patent litigation issue. Generally, the new eyelets have performed well, but we have received several reports of eyelet breakage upon attempted insertion into very hard bone. In response to these reports, we decided to halt sales and pull back inventory until the eyelet can be enhanced. We hope to begin shipping updated SwiveLock SP anchors in May but we will be facing backorder issues for several months. There is no impact to the standard PEEK eyeleted SwiveLock anchors and these are excellent replacements. Specific suggested alternatives are listed in the table below. Please make sure that your accounts are prepared with punches (either reusable AR-1927PB or disposable AR-1927PBS).

Here are several pearls that surgeons use to visualize their bone socket clearly. They may help your SwiveLock SP anchor users adapt well to the PEEK eyeleted versions:
    • Clear soft tissue from the tuberosity before punching.
    • Pre-load the SwiveLock anchor onto the sutures prior to punching.
    • Leave the punch in the bone while the SwiveLock anchor is loaded onto the sutures.
    • Mark the punch with a skin marking pen to leave a purple edge around the bone socket.
    • Mark the desired bone socket location with RF prior to punching.
    • Hold the cannula in a fixed position against the humerus while the punch is removed as it will then help guide anchor insertion.
We apologize for the inconvenience and will correct the issue as soon as possible.
