Novo needs to readdress their severance plan immediately. I’ve been in the industry for over 20 years and been with several companies. Our plan is the worst ever. Denmark mothership gives 1 year salary to laid off employees and the US cluster gives 2 weeks per year of service? Terrible.

Yeah if you look at Denmark, someone with the company 3 months there gets the same severance as someone who was here 5 years. Need to make it consistent across the org, especially because the US drives global earnings.

Thank our lack of employment laws for that tho. At will has crippled the employee in corporate America.

EXACTLY. That's what these people don't get. They think Republicans are "good for pharma" but yet we have no protections - an industry with 80-100,000 sales reps has no union. Reps in India have a union. We don't. Think about that.

We are the easy ones to lay off. Every time Novo wants to reduce head count they have the choice of either collective bargaining with Danish unions or taking an axe to At Will NNI with its crappy severance. What would you do?

Do most of you even realize how privileged we are to get a severance? I know many people in medical sales and other fields who have gotten displaced or let go with nothing, maybe 2 weeks pay if they were lucky. So let’s be grateful we have what we do. And let’s be honest, to many, the severance package has been like a lottery ticket/extra money because they find another job relatively quickly.

Of course everyone wants to get paid more for doing nothing after getting laid off. What a liberal mindset to think “what can someone else do for me” and that you are “owed” something. There is something called unemployment for those who haven’t found a job and need further assistance after the severance runs out to help, too. Of course it doesn’t pay nearly as well, but it’s something. Ultimately a once great career has become one of the most unstable. So if you’re really unhappy in this industry and don’t agree with their practices get out and find a different career!

this post makes me laugh. The reason Denmark gets an inordinate amount of severance is because their government requires it. They are socialists

And the Danish company that is making money hand over fist on the backs of American patients and workers should do the right thing. Just saying...

The severance is terrible compared to what other pharmaceutical companies provide to their US workers! It’s not even a close call!

The company should have a severance plan that is on par with other major pharma companies. Is that unreasonable? Don’t think so. When was the last time our plan was re-evaluated?

    Is it unreasonable? No.
Do they owe it to you? Absolutely not. Quit looking for a bigger hand out.

“Owe” is a loaded word. Do they have a legal requirement to? No (thanks to our lovely Republican governments undermining employee protections over the last 4 decades).

Do they have a moral/ethical requirement to? Absolutely.

Aww cute, another triggered snowflake, Obummer was a complete failure who accomplished absolutely nothing in eight years. Good riddance!

    Triggered? No. Educated? Yes.

If Obama accomplished “nothing,” then why is President Trump attempting to undo so much? You may not have agreed with his policies, but to say he did “nothing” is absurd.

Oh and try rise above a 5th grade level of discourse by avoiding pejoratives and name calling.

It makes you look weak and uninformed.

MKT's days are numbered. With Brandgaard sacked guess who's next in line. Yes, MKT. Long overdue.

They have a moral and ethical obligation to pay you even more NOT to work for them? Perhaps your morals and ethics aren’t reflected by everyone.
