    Dear Friends and Colleagues:

Many of you have offered support over recent years while I’ve prosecuted an age discrimination claim against my former employer, the Danish company Novo Nordisk.

Although I compiled significant evidence showing institutional age bias, including ageist statements made by my former high-ranking supervisor, I was denied the right to a jury trial.

Last week I presented the case to a federal appeals court. In the court filing, I included the evidence showing Novo Nordisk’s determination to “prune” its older workers. Yes, my former Danish boss used that term, “prune.” My court filing is available by clicking https://www.dropbox.com/s/idvgmu337hoy1fy/Hooker-v-NNI.pdf?dl=0 in case you’re interested in learning more as to the company’s disturbing attitude toward older employees. Clicking on this link https://www.dropbox.com/s/jejbshi10a0x3tz/JobPosting.pdf?dl=0 will show you an actual Novo Nordisk job posting reflecting the kind of institutional ageism I am challenging.

Although there’s nothing you can do to support my legal case at this time, (it is for the judges to decide), I urge you to join this battle to protect older employees at Novo Nordisk. By its own words the company celebrates younger workers, and considers older workers to be expendable once they train the younger ones. If you take action, maybe we can protect the next older worker in line to be “pruned.”

I urge you to circulate this message and the court filing. As well, if you know doctors, urge them not to prescribe Novo Nordisk medications if there’s an equivalent alternative. If you know Novo Nordisk employees, urge them to look for jobs elsewhere, before they get “pruned.” If you know people who work for competitors, let them know how Novo Nordisk operates. If you know shareholders, urge them to divest. As well, you can send a message directly to the Copenhagen global HQ by clicking here: https://www.novonordisk.com/contact-us.html.

You get the point. It is not until the Copenhagen corporate leaders feel the brunt of American public outrage will they change their ways. Our older American workers deserve better, and are entitled to it under the law.

    Fondly, Bill (Hooker)
