If Stryker just bought Berchtold why is there no press on it?

Comm group is a good spot if you like the technology and construction side of the biz.

On the M&A, Berchtold seems to give Stryker Comm a leg up overseas. Plus it sticks it to Arthrex who was getting too cozy with Berchtold. Lots of consolidation in the future...

Karl Storz has been the biggest beneficiary of Berchtold relationships.

Now that Strker has acquired Berchtold, would you assume that Karl Storz is shopping for a boom, light, and table company...I wonder who they would be looking at?

Maybe Storz buys the Trumpf Medical Divison, which is for sale right now...

Storz buying TRUMPF makes sense...what if Storz bought Belimed as well....should be interesting to see how this all rolls out.

Interesting feed over time here... thinking of moving from ambulatory medical sales to possible Stryker Communications role. My past is in med surge and capital equipment. Is this still a problem department / product line today or an improved area for someone to grow in and support a family?

Storz isn't going to purchase Belimed. They are held by a Swiss Multi-Billion dollar hedge fund and isn't for sale. Cybil Storz has made it clear she isn't interested in making acquisitions especially in the Boom and Light space. That leaves a few players, most notably Steris and Siemens. Steris purchased IMS recently with debt cash and isn't in a position to make another acquisition. Siemens is the strongest player in the hunt and will most likely acquire Trumpf, can their entire sales force, have their reps sell the tables, and trash their lights (all plastic parts).

Stryker Communications after their purchase of Berchtold Corp becomes the largest boom and light company in the US. They acquired a strong sales force and tables. This positions them very well against the competition. They will now be the only company able to provide a solution from the camera scope to the monitors, tables, and the IT workflow software.

Their competition isn't leveraged well in the market, and their only play is to try and erode industry margins by commoditizing the products.

Hearing that Belimed is buying TRUMPF Medical...makes sense...a lot of synergies between the two companies and if they can effectively package / market their technology they will be hard to beat when hospitals are looking to build new...as the combined technology is very strong. I also am really impressed with TRUMPF table technology i.e. new davinici table, integrated table with Siemens Zeego, and partnership with Brainlab Airo...these guys are on to something and shocked that Stryker went after Berchtold and not TRUMPF.

Stryker communications has 3rd party engineers reverse engineer competitor equipment and Brand their name on it. The R&D lab is full of competitor equipment that they are reverse engineering. Their partnership with the company that manufactures their SDC directs most of their innovation. Since they buy the technology they are hard pressed to find anyone who can deploy it effectively. They will show up in $1000 suits, take you out to dinner, and then ask you to sign a PO for something they can never fully implement. This isn't a bash on the company. Their medical, instruments, and Orthopaedics divisions are the real deal. Stryker communications uses the Stryker name to peddle reverse engineered designs manufactured in India, France, and Korea. If you want to work for the real Stryker check out the Ortho, instruments, medical, and neurovascular divisions. If you want unlimited company paid travel, in the best hotels with no questions asked, Comm might be an option.

FAKE NEWS! Get a life, you work for Steris, Trumpf, Skytron, or some other shitty company that keeps losing to Stryker. Deal with it. None of the the things you stated above are true, literally not one!

Current Comm rep here. can confirm nothing above is even close to true. Fake news is right. The hotels part is the funniest one. Obviously you don’t know anything about the company and policies.

Just a few google searches will confirm I am speaking the truth.

Stryker Monitors - Made by Advan Corp in Korea driven by the relationship with William Chang at Styker endoscopy (http://advancorp.com/ )
Stryker SDC technology designed and implemented by ViTech (Hardware in India)
Stryker IP Video Solutions designed by Vitech (France and India)
Integration Routers manufactured by Jabil based on Designs from 3rd parties such as Polycom, Extron, ELO touchpanels, and CDW (That is hilarious)
Booms used to be manufactured in Germany by Ondal, but once they purchased Berchtold and dismantled the company they try to make them in Texas.
Lights are manufactured by Simeon in Germany
The list goes on..... Stryker is a great Manufacturing company. When it comes to technology they are forced to buy 3rd party technology and deploy it with kids right out of college.
It is relatively obvious the previous poster was from sales (AKA the $1K suits). They recruit mostly Jocks who can worm their way into the OR without any real subject knowledge other than what they were taught in San Jose. Good looks and a strong presence get you in the game but they cant keep your customer happy.

One quick response to the current comm rep who was disgruntled about the hotel situation. He is correct, the sales force is no longer issued american express corporate cards. The california reps still carry them, but all other reps utilize their manager to expense the cost for them. Marriott is the primary vendor, but if traveling with customers the sky is the limit. This is definitely agains advamed policies, but it absolutely happens anyway.
