Is this the kind of nonsense coming out of ACT these days? Or just another member of the tribe who is full of $hit?

That's hilarious! Arthrex has access to the Sony Exmor Chip.... But they get better results from HD chip.... Okay? Stryker came to Sony with their checkbook wide open and were denied... But, Arthrex has access? Idiot!

Head to Head - when you give your video away.. You win! Congratulations, now go open some more boxes... And thanks for confirming you are only using HD 3 chip.

Look for all the "my chips better than yours" chat. Storz and Stryker pixel shifted and double sampled their previous generation chip sets. It's industry practice, get over it nothing is exactly what it appears. If you go back far enough on these boards you'll see that the same boring conversations where had in the HD ready/True HD era.

Let bin the marketing BS, company one eyedness and just agree that sales is about about relationships and equipment that serves the docs operating purpose. If he likes you better than the next guy and you can cut it in the C-suite then good luck to you.

Now I'm off to catch some Pokemon with the other tech nerds on this thread.....

    1) Sony are too close to Olypussy to allow Stryker to have the same chips. It was vetoed by the board because of the SOMED partnership.

    2) Olympus's 4K 1 chip camera has great resolution but the 8 bit colour and 1 chip configuration leads to a wash out colour in GS procedures. Docs prefer the 3chip colour spectrum on the HD version. They are getting round this by using the colour balance on the 55" Sony monitor to dial the Reds back in. Works well when the reps their but isn't reproducible without. Just sold 6 UHD4K systems against them Europe in GS hence the info.

Really very simple. Arthrex has the ortho relationships, the image is very nice and it is sold at a reasonable price. This video thing is over done. Not like the old days when image was different from one vendor to the next. On a 32 inch monitor both Olympus and Arthrex look great. But no relationships and the huge price difference makes the decision to easy. I feel bad for the Stryker reps. No that last part was a lie. They can bend over. Always been jerks.

No they sell and meet the customers needs. It is called competition. How much do you think it cost to make the camera box? Next to nothing. Stryker is cheap as anyone and they are losing. And if you work for Olympus. What the hell is with Olympus prices? Ridiculous.

No i mean they sell because they meet the needs of the market. Too bad you don't see that. Should a hospital pay more for the same equipment?

Arthrex has been successful in convincing distributors to help buy video for accounts through a rebate program. These cool aid drinking distributors pass that cost down to the naive rep. Arthrex makes its money. These foolish distributors and rookie reps don't realize they are being used to move product for less money. So Arthrex can claim they are gaining market share, but who's actually buying the stuff. Ponder that for a little bit. Smoke and mirrors.

I CAN RESPECT OLYMPUS FOR AT LEAST USING A GENUINE 4K CHIP THOUGH LOSING OUT IN COLOUR BECAUSE OF 1 CHIP. UNLIKE ARTHREX. CLAIMS 4K BUT ON HD 3 CHIP LOL.

"Losing out on color?" Besides the 4x the resolution of HD the 2nd biggest distinction is the expanded color format: it's twice the color range of HD!

4k for arthroscopy..... Who the F cares. Not to mention Arthrex's supposed 4k looks no better than SN HD system. Nobody ever complained that standard definition arthroscopy was awful then HD came around. Now 4k.... seriously it's not necessary.

Plus, giving away video towers for shavers. Go ahead. Surgery Centers will keep taking that deal all day.

Arthrex will do anything just to get product in an OR. Maybe they're going for subliminal messages????
